Dashain, the most important holiday for Nepalese people, is always observed with

enthusiasm and delight among all the others. In October, it is observed for about 15 days,
with the first, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth days being the most significant.

In accordance with the customs of "Ghatsthapana," the first day is celebrated by worshipping
Goddess Durga for nine days in a row. The major celebration, known as "Dashami" or
"Vijaya Dashami," commemorates the day that Goddess Durga slew the devils. The elder
members of the family bestow blessings on their younger members on this day by placing
"Tika" and "Jamara."

The special funds awarded to the younger children are known as "Dakchhina." Everyone
enjoys a variety of foods, playing cards, flying kites, and other activities on this day, which is
similar to a family reunion. Dashain offers working individuals a chance to unwind and spend
quality time with their families, in addition to bringing friends and family back together.
