2nd Municipal Leadership Training-Workshop Proposal

Theme: “Youth Empowerment and Holistic Development towards Global Goals”

I. Project Title: 2nd MUNICIPAL LEADERSHIP TRAINING-WORKSHOP

II. Background and Rationale

Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a

common goal (Ward, 2017). Leadership does not only cover the elected politicians of the
country, but it also involves people with initiative to lead a certain group or organization
having specific goals to accomplish which may benefit the community as a whole.
Nowadays, there are still youths who are not concerned about the situation of the
country, specifically, its political and socio-economic status. With this in mind, the organizers
of this project entitled “2nd Municipal Leadership Training-Workshop” want to work with the
youth to develop their own thoughts and contribute to the development of the country and to
develop new ideas and projects in collaboration with government agencies in order to deliver
the voice of youth, promote political participation, and unite young people and of other ages
and gender as regards to accomplishing objectives.
The target participants of this training are the newly-elected SSG/COMELEC Officers
in the municipality of Urbiztondo.
It is expected that the training will be able to foster and support youth initiative to build
a strong representation of youth’s voice in the service and life decision-making in their
respective communities, and fiat for violence against their rights.
III. Project Description:

This three-day training-workshop (leave out) seeks to empower youth to become

leaders at an early age. Some say youths have been rarely seen as change-makers. But,
when they are given the opportunity to lead, they rise to the challenge.
Generally, this training-workshop targets the holistic development of a youth towards
global goals. This will also help the youth to learn about on how to manage effective group
collaboration. There will be lectures from the resource speakers and activities like team
building that will be executed. The facilitators will provide the equipment/materials needed to
create a good partnership-building.

IV. Goals and Objectives

This leadership training aims to:

A. Apply technical writing as a student-leader;
B. Give the participants a deeper understanding of the responsibilities of a leader;
C. Create and maintain and efficient, effective, and motivated team;
D. Maximize team performance by understanding human behavior and focusing need of
the individual and the team;
E. Improve ability to communicate with the team and the participants;
F. Strengthen techniques for managing the performance of the team;
G. Provide information and experience that will help the target participants to develop
and enhance their leadership skills and philosophies;
H. Inform and give awareness to the participants about the current issues, needs,
resources, and other factors that influence the community’s future; and
I. Familiarize the participants about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the Leadership training-workshop, they will learn that:

a) Leaders can best teach participants how to be “effective followers” by personal
example;
b) Leaders care about each person, not just about managing an organization;
c) Leaders can achieve the success of the organization doing the most effective efforts
or actions;
d) Leaders should delegate effective service opportunities to others; and
e) Leaders make not just short-term plans, but it is important to have long-term plans for
their organization.
V. Impacts and Benefits

This leadership training-workshop is after:

A) Recognizing the effective contributions of the youth in the country’s leadership within
both publican political organizations;
B) Showing how to treat women’s rights as share responsibility of rightful citizens of the
land;
C) Showing and demonstrating how empowerment is simultaneously associated with
social, economic and political capabilities and opportunities to the youth;
D) Supporting the youth in the workplace as equal partners building a safe and vibrant
society;
E) Giving realistic support to young people to actively participate in community and
national life;
F) Making them focused on specific actions to empower young men and woman to enjoy
their rights to health, recreation, education, and employment opportunities;
G) Empowering and demonstrating nationalistic pride as well as instill a sense of
gratitude among youths to be involved in the community through various activities;
H) Encouraging the youths to participate in the decision making of their future—that
standing up for their rights does not mean abandoning their culture and traditions; and
I) Enabling the participants to choose one among the 17 Sustainable Development
Goals and help to promote their chosen SDG.

Specifically, participants will:

a) Demonstrate understanding on how to give back to any organizations they want to

support;
b) Demonstrate understanding how to become the voice of their community;
c) Demonstrate understanding on how to overcome challenges at an early age;
d) Demonstrate understanding on how to communicate with different kinds of people in
different kinds of situation;
e) Demonstrate understanding on how to mentor their co-leaders and people of the
same age;
f) Gain confidence on how to stand for their rights as a teenager and citizen of the
country;
g) Have the opportunity to expand their connections through meeting other people;
h) Be able to learn how to build a community not just with their co-leaders but also to
their co-teenagers and to other people around them;
i) Be eager to increase ones’ productivity through effective leadership implementation;
j) Be eager to achieve higher academic achievement;
k) Be willing to enhance their own leadership skills.

Organizers on the other hand will:

a) Be more effective in conducting their next leadership training;
b) Be more efficient in dealing with their participants;
c) Be better negotiators and will recognize their stand;
d) Be able to set higher goals for the next training and will know how to achieve these
goals;
e) Be able to help the participants to become the young leaders of their own community;
f) Be able to improve their communication and time management skills.
g) Learn how to be confident toward themselves;
h) Learn how to welcome trainings from other co-leaders;
i) Learn how to build a stronger relationship with co-organizers and to the participants;
