2) Only the equipment which has been installed in ex-proof zone needs the air source
1. PRE-CHECK FOR SHIP’S UTILITIES
Note : Prior to BWTS operation, ship’s staff should check as following :

3) AVAILABILITY OF ALL VALVES FOR BALLASTING SYSTEM

In order to successfully operate BWTS, following valves should have no troubles.
a. ballast tank valves
b. overboard discharge valve
c. sea chest valve
3) d. filter inlet/outlet/by-pass valves

3) e. flow control valves

f. tank suction valve

…….

3) the valves that were supplied by shipyard find some troubles, ship’s staff should contact with shipyard instead of BWTS maker
2. FUNCTION CHECK OF BWTS COMPONENTS

Note :

Before BWT system operating, following equipment and instruments should

be checked whether their function is normal or not.

And also, ship’s staff should check their function status if BWTS was not in
use at least a week over.

4) The suction valves of XV-1531 & XV-2531 can be commonly used for ballasting and de-ballasting. In this case, there are no XV-1532/XV-2532 valves
5) There are two types of TRO sampling pumps : air driven pumps for ex-proof and electric motor pumps for non-ex-proof. Compressed air needs for ex-proof type pumps
6) The utility air will be supplied to the pump for driving sea water when the sol. valve opens(the solenoid valve is electromechanically operated)
