Q5. Regression

Working expression:
The regression line of Y on X
Y=a+bX
Where, Y = data rate (dependent variable)
a = y - intercept
b = b YX = regression coefficients of Y on X

Working procedure:
Define variables in variable view → Put data in variable view → Analyze →
Regression → Linear → Put resistance in dependent list → Put current in independent → Go
to statistics → Level of confidence interval 95% → continue → ok

a. Dependent Variable: Resistance
Calculation

a. Here, a = constant = 8.650

b = -0.241
The regression line of Y on X is

Y = a + bX
Y = 8.650 – 0.241X

b. When resistance (X) = 4,

Y = 8.650 – 0.241X
or, Y = 8.650 – 0.241 × 4 = 7.686
or, Ŷ = 7.686

c. Coefficient of determination (r2) = 0.53 which means that 53% of variation of

dependent variable current (Y) is explained by independent variable resistance (X)

d. Correlation coefficient (r) = 0.229 which is high degree correlation between current and
resistance.
