Lemongrab

Crochet Pattern

Need:
Herrschner’s 2-ply afghan yarn
Yellow
Dark Gray
small amounts of black, brown, dark green and lime green
Polyester fiberfill
Size 1 steel crochet hook
Yarn needle
2 micro-size buttons for eyes (or black embroidery thread)
1 gold or silver chenille stem (pipe cleaner)

Stitches used: single crochet, increase (2 sc in 1), decrease (join 2 sc)

Gauge: 7 stitches x 8 rows = 1 inch

This doll is approx. 6 inches tall. Can use 4-ply yarn and a size D
aluminum hook for a larger doll.

Instructions:

Head
With yellow, chain 2.
Round 1: 5 sc in second chain from hook.
Round 2: 1 sc in each stitch. (5 sc
Round 3: Increase around. 10 sc
Round 4: 1 sc in each stitch. 10 sc
Round 5: [Sc 1, inc] around. 15 sc
Round 6: 1 sc in each stitch. 15 sc
Round 7: [Sc 2, inc] around. 20 sc
Round 8: 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in each around. 21 sc
Round 9: [Sc 2, inc] around. 28 sc
Rounds 10-13: 1 sc in each stitch around. 28 sc
Round 14: [Sc 2, decrease] around. 21 sc
Rounds 15-17: 1 sc in each stitch. 21 sc

End yellow. Switch to dark gray for torso.

Upper Torso
Rounds 18-28: 1 sc in each stitch. 21 sc
End. Stuff head and torso.

Feet and Legs (make 2)


With black, chain 7
Round 1: 2 sc in second chain from hook. 4 sc in top loops of chain. 3 sc in end stitch of chain. 4 sc in
bottom loops of chain. 1 sc in same chain as first 2 sc. Join. 14 sc
Round 2: 3 sc, dec 4 times, 3 sc. 10 sc
Rounds 3-8: 1 sc in each stitch.
End black. Switch to dark gray for legs.
Rounds 9-20: 1 sc in each stitch.
End.
On second leg, do not end – continue to lower torso.

Lower Torso
Round 1: On second leg, 4 sc. Chain 3. Join to end stitch of first leg. 1
sc in each stitch around top of first leg. 1 sc each in top loops of chain
3. Continue to second leg. 6 sc.
Round 2: 4 sc. 1 sc each in bottom loops of chain 3. 1 sc in each
stitch around. 26 total sc.
Round 3: {3 sc, dec} around. 21 sc.
Rounds 4-6: 1 sc in each sc around.
End, leaving length for sewing.
Stuff feet and legs. Sew lower torso to upper torso.

Hands and Arms (make 2)


With yellow, chain 2.
Round 1: 6 sc in second chain from hook.
Round 2: [1sc, inc] around. 9 sc
Rounds 3-5: 1 sc in each stitch.
End yellow. Switch to dark gray for arms.
Rounds 6-16: 1 sc in each stitch.
Round 17: 5 sc. Chain 1, turn.
Round 18: Skip first sc, 3 sc. Chain 1, turn.
Round 19: Skip first sc, 2 sc.
Round 20: Space 7 sc evenly around edge of arm opening.
End, leaving length for sewing.
Stuff arms.
Sew arms to opposite sides of upper torso on rounds 19-21.

Belt
With dark green, chain 22. Join.
1 sc in each sc. Join. End. Weave in ends.

Lime belt buckle:


With lime green, chain 3.
Round 1: 2 sc in second chain from hook. 1 sc in nex chain. Chain 1, turn.
Round 2: 1 sc in each sc. Turn, dec once. End. Sew buckle to belt.

Scabbard
With light brown, chain 6.
Round 1: 2 sc in second chain from hook, 1 in each of next 4 stitches. 5 sc
Round 2: 1 sc in each stitch.
Switch to dark brown.
Rounds 3-12: 1 sc in each stitch.
End, leaving length for sewing. Sew together along long end.

I used a silver chenille stem for the sword.

Sew scabbard to belt, and slide belt on figure. Tack into place if needed.
Nose
With yellow, chain 2
Round 1: 4 sc in second chain from hook
Round 2: 1 sc in each stitch. 4 sc
Round 3: [Sc 3, inc]. 5 sc
Round 4: 1 sc in each stitch. 5 sc
Round 5: [Sc 4, inc]. 6 sc
Finish. Leave 6-inch length for sewing. Sew to rows 10-11 of
head.

On round 9 of head, on either side of nose, sew two black micro-


buttons for eyes. Could also use black thread to embroider eyes.
Embroider a single line of black thread on row 13 for mouth.
