1.6 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DAILY ACTIVITIES AS PER SECTION

1.6.1Cutting Section
Here I learned how to place the fabric on tension before cutting. Not only that, I also learned to
use different patterns on a fabric when cutting. I placed fabric on folds when cutting to avoid
time wastage.

1.6.2Market/shop section
In this section, I learned how to sell garments according to types/characteristics of the fiber of
fabric used on the garment.

1.6.3Knitting section
Here, I learned to use hand manual machine to make fabric from yarns. I made fabrics of
different colors while some were made of same color. I also learned to make pullovers using
knitted fabrics.

1.6.4Sewing section
I learned how draft different types of garment such as trousers. Dustcoat, round skirt, dresses,
shirts, and even pleaded skirts. I also learned how to make a dress using elastic and fabric to
form gathers. Not only that but also learned how to decorate a garment using different methods
like using buttons of different collour with the fabric, using zip, using a fabric with different
colours.i learned to make a patch pocket, inseam pocket and a welt pocket. I learned how to
make a patch pocket, inseam pocket and a welt pocket.

1.6.5Pattern making section

I learned how to draft and make different patterns such as sleeve patterns and finally make the
patterns using an iron sheet which is flexible and then store the patterns in a well dry place to
avoid rusting.

1.6.6Printing Section
I learned two types of printing. That is heat transfer printing method and screen printing method.
The labels are placed on the garment the heat degree is set on the machine according to the type
of fabric used to make the garment.
The garment is placed into the machine then time is set for the printing process.

13
Not only that but I also learned how to make screen used in screen printing. In screen printing,
the logo/picture is already drowned on the screen. The ink such as water soluble ink and PCV is
used in printing. After screen printing is done, the printed part is dried.

1.6.7Embroidery section
I learned how to set a logo in the computer and transfer it to the flash disc, which is used to
transfer the logo onto the pantograph during computerized embroidery machine sewing. The
flash is placed into the computer, thus help the machine to sew the logo.
I also learned how to set speed, color, and size of the logo using computer. Canvas is used during
sewing of logos on the garment to allow stiffness and it also help to sew the letters straight.
There are two types of threads used in embroidery: polyester and Rayon threads. They are
mainly used due to their strengths and durability.
