I‭ n‬ ‭1997,‬ ‭a‬ ‭team‬ ‭of‬ ‭paleontologists‬ ‭made‬ ‭an‬‭amazing‬‭discovery.‬

‭During‬‭a‬‭four-month‬‭expedition‬‭to‬‭the‬‭Sahara‬‭Desert,‬‭they‬‭found‬
‭one‬‭of‬‭the‬‭most‬‭complete‬‭sauropod‬‭(or‬‭"long-necked"‬‭dinosaur)‬
‭fossils‬ ‭ever.‬ ‭Paleontologists‬ ‭estimate‬ ‭that‬ ‭the‬ ‭dinosaur,‬ ‭named‬
‭Jobaria, lived in the country of Niger over 160 million years ago.‬

S‭ cientists‬ ‭believe‬ ‭Jobaria’s‬‭appearance‬‭remained‬‭unchanged‬‭for‬

‭about‬‭40‬‭million‬‭years.‬‭It‬‭weighed‬‭about‬‭22‬‭tons‬‭and‬‭was‬‭about‬
‭20‬ ‭meters‬ ‭(70‬ ‭feet)‬ ‭long.‬ ‭Fossils‬ ‭suggest‬ ‭that‬ ‭Jobaria‬ ‭used‬ ‭its‬
‭strong‬‭back‬‭legs‬‭for‬‭support,‬‭and‬‭used‬‭them‬‭to‬‭raise‬‭itself‬‭up‬‭so‬
‭it‬‭could‬‭eat‬‭tree‬‭branches.‬‭According‬‭to‬‭these‬‭scientists,‬‭Jobaria‬
‭was‬ ‭unlike‬ ‭most‬ ‭sauropods‬ ‭of‬‭the‬‭time.‬‭It‬‭didn’t‬‭have‬‭a‬‭flexible‬
‭neck, its tail was very short, and it also had spoon-shaped teeth.‬
