ELA 11-2 Info Final Exam Prep

The ELA 11-2 Info final exam will have 3 sections:

1. Memoirs and Write Traits -- /30


2. Articles and Opinions -- /30
3. Course Theme -- /40

Use the PowerPoints on D2L, your notes, and the questions below to prepare for your final exam.

1 MEMOIRS AND WRITE TRAITS – 30 POINTS | RECOMMEND


TIME: 40 MIN
For this section you will be given a short section of a memoir (3-4 pages long). You will need to read it
and answer 3 short answer questions about it and do a Write Trait Analysis of it like we did with our
other memoirs at the start of the year.

2 ARTICLES AND OP-EDS – 30 POINTS | RECOMMEND TIME: 40

For this section you will be given a short article and will be asked to turn it into an outline and write a
response paragraph (Strongly agreeing or disagreeing with the article).

To study for this section:

 Review the different graphic organizers that we used to plan our essays
 Familiarize yourself with the different parts of an essay
 Be able to identify a thesis statement, supporting arguments, evidence/examples

 Review the “Editorial” assignment


 Practice writing clear topic sentences/taking a strong position on a topic
 Practice using evidence and in-text citations

3 COURSE THEME – 40 POINTS | RECOMMEND TIME: 40 MIN


For this section you will be asked to write a 350-450 word response to one of the guiding questions for
this course:

- In what ways do individuals persevere against systems of oppression


- How does one's identity contribute to the power they hold in society?

To study for this section:

 Read and think about the questions. Make sure that you thoroughly understand the question. (look
up and define words if you need to)
 Without looking them up, try to list all the different texts that we have read, watched, listened to,
viewed, played, etc.
 Check D2L and see if you missed any texts
 Refamiliarize yourself with our class texts
 Write down some ideas about how these texts connect to the course theme
