THESIS ABSTRACT
A N A T O M Ē

This thesis venerates the beauty of human

anatomy by capturing the subtle intricacies of

the organ's aesthetics, structure, movement and

beauty through mix media, surface exploration

and ornamentation techniques.

THESIS STATEMENT
"This is your starting line. This is your

arena. How well you play? That's up to

you."

Anatomy, arising from the Greek word

anatom ē, means dissection.

With a scalpel in your hand you feel

unstoppable.

This thesis project encapsulates the

dissection of the internal organs that

form a complex set of aesthetics.

"Organ systems are co-dependent for

survival."

"Unfolding the layers of human organs"

"Renegades, rule-breakers, gangsters with

scalpels."
With a scalpel in your hand, you feel unstoppable to

dive into the skin of anatomy.

"10 - blade"
Ask most surgeons why they became surgeons

and they’ll usually tell you the same thing. It was

for the high, the rush, the thrill of cutting

someone open and saving their life.

For that moment, you feel completely at peace.

A happy colour.
Like, Blood.
The brain is the body’s most mysterious organ. It

learns, it changes, it adapts. It tells us what we see,

what we hear. It lets us feel love. I think it holds our

soul but no matter how much research we do, no

one can really say how that delicate grey matter

inside our skull works and when it’s hurt,

the human brain is traumatized.

Well, that’s when it gets even more mysterious.

"And breathe, just breathe,

Oh breathe, just breathe,

Oh breathe, just breathe,

Oh breathe, just breathe."

“On average, a healthy heart beats 115,000 times per day.

The heart pumps 2,000 gallons of blood through your

entire body 24 hours a day. It never rests.

The hardest working muscle in your body. But when it's

damaged, it's just like skin. It scars."

Surgery - cutting into organs, it is a

high stakes game,

sooner or later,

you're just going to have to go with

your gut.
"ORGAN SYSTEMS ARE
CO-DEPENDENT FOR SURVIVAL"
"The organs in the human body have entirely different

functions. The cells which make up those organs act

independently of each other. But in a healthy body,

seemingly independent cells quietly depend on the

functioning of the others. Because when one system

stops working the others can't function for long."

and aesthetics from the internal organs.
