Rationale
The COVID-19 Pandemic left notable change in our culture––
the practice of online business and transaction. According to Mollarca
(2020), the growth of many e-commerce platforms is the effect of
transition from traditional shopping channels to online platforms during
quarantine. Which then explains why even in the post-pandemic
situation, Filipinos would still use online shopping applications like
Shoppe or Lazada, conduct online payments through GCash or
Paymaya, order food online via Grab or FoodPanda and do online
selling through FB or Tiktok Live.
With the emergence of online businesses, the researchers came
up with this question: If tangible things can be sold online, why not
home services as well? According to GlobalData’s E-Commerce
Analytics, e-commerce transaction value in Philippines grew by 11.8%
to be valued at PHP229.8bn ($4.8bn) in 2020. Consumers’ preferences
for online shopping and internet penetration is increasing, which would
mean that people may opt to look up for home services online rather
than the traditional way.
Furthermore, offering home services online could possibly help
unprivileged and/or unemployed Filipinos with skills in home services.
Not just to them, but also to those who struggle to locate individuals
who will perform housework for them. Although individuals may
advertise their services on social media platforms such as Facebook to
find clients, a system that concentrates just on seeking out services and
providing services would be more beneficial, much like any other online
business platforms.
Taking all these factors into consideration, the researchers
propose a new system that would help Filipinos adjust to the new
normal setting––an online home service booking system. DaServe is a
website that would serve an environment for people who offer home
services and those looking for them. The system would have three
modes: (1) Booking Mode, where people can look for a certain house
chore; (2) Service Offering Mode, where people can register and offer
their services such as house deep cleaning, in-house or take-home
laundry, plumbing work, electrical services and many more; and lastly
(3) Forum, where the community could interact and share ideas and
feedbacks.

Statement of the
The researchers seek to develop an environment for unemployed
Problem
and/or unprivileged people that wishes to earn money through offering
home services and for people who are having a hard time looking for
those services.

As the study continues, the researches will address the following

questions:

1. What kinds of services will the system provide?

2. What are the ways to verify the eligibility of those offering their
services through the system?

3. How will the system assess the safety of the potential

customers?

4. How will the payment transaction take place?

Significance The findings of this study would help the community’s offering and
looking for home services be more efficient. The greater demand of the
website would lessen the amount of people with no source of income.
Additionally, it will serve as a bridge for future systems made to conform
to the new normal setting.

The study would be significant to the following:

Future Researchers. This study will aid them in developing a related

system and/or act as a reference for future studies.

Expected Output Taking into account that some home service providers might never had
the opportunity to receive education, the researchers ought to create a
user-friendly home service booking website. The system will be easy
to interact with and anyone can download it from the market.
Expected Outcomes The researchers are expecting these outcomes upon developing the
system:

1. The amount of time people spent looking for home services

would decrease. People who don't have time for housework,
like working parents, would benefit from this.
2. The system will assist individuals find extra income while also
bringing down jobless rate.
3. Home service providers would get customers more quickly than
through non-transaction-focused websites like Facebook.
