Peak demand
Peak demand
Maximum (Peak) demand is the highest electrical power demand measured over a
certain period of time. Energy providers measure the peak demand of their
customers to allocate the right amount of energy in all parts of the grid. Reduce
the amount of energy consumed by peak demand every month to reduce the
cost of peak demand
The most common contributor to high peak demand is multiple energy intensive
processes running at the same time.
Do you turn on most of your high consumption loads at the same time every day?
Could you use timers and sensors to automatically turn device, lighting and air off
when not needed?
Can you optimize start up time, power down time and equipment sequencing?
Energy use optimization strategies are the first step in reducing your demand
charges.
To make a list of all the electrical loads or equipment especially the top 5
equipment that consume electrical power. To train the person responsible for
operating this equipment, not turn on
Shift the loads to ensure that the processes do not run together, and schedule the
highest demand processes during the period that peak demand loads do not apply.
Capital Projects – Peak Shrinking
Another way to reduce peak demand is to install equipment that uses less energy.
Using more efficient equipment reduces the base load of energy used at all times,
effectively shrinking the entire demand curve in a downward direction.
Correction
Size of insulated power cable from gantry tower to compact substation (distribution switch station) is
1*400 instead of 1*95mm2.
