Hawassa Industrial Park
September, 2023
1. Introduction
Hawassa Industrial Park consist a provision of all government services one-stop shop service Center
and also employs Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) that enables to recycle 90 percent of sewerage disposal
water and fulfills international standards, with 52 factory sheds already rented out to different Investors.
The park will serve as a prototype for the industrial parks being built in other parts of the country . The
Hawassa Industrial Park (HIP) supplies 30 MW of energy from EEU to HIP through two feeders' 33 kV
power lines. The two main income lines connect to six distribution switch stations (compact
substations) and are distributed to different ring main units (RMU) of factory sheds, treatment plants,
and buildings. HIP have 67 transformers, 67 ring main unit (RMU), 6 compact substations (distribution
switch station) in Hawassa Industrial Park. Now a time HIP handles the maintenance services for all
factory sheds, treatment plants and buildings.
These terms of reference outlines the framework for a comprehensive maintenance of power
distribution systems training program designed specifically for transformer and switchgear maintenance
experts, maintenance experts, and electrical technicians. And also this ToR is developed as a basis to
determine the cost of the platform, the expected output, and the frequency of engagement. The training
aims to enhance the participants' knowledge and skills in optimizing power distribution systems,
improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The
training will cover various aspects of transformer and switchgear maintenance, cable fault locating and
cable termination, testing of equipment, best practices, and troubleshooting, thereby equipping the
participants with the necessary expertise to effectively manage power distribution system.
3. Methodology
Work shop training with related case studies and syndicate exercises
4. Training venue
Ethiopian Electric power training Center (workshop).
5. Duration
Overall; the training will take in 10 days.
6. Trainee
Overall;12 trainee will be participated and trained
7. Expected outcomes
Testing, servicing, and maintenance of different capacities of Dry-type and Oil-type distribution
transformers, RMUs, Protection Relays, Temperature monitoring and controlling relays and
cooling fans, Oil conservator, Silica gel control circuit etc.
Improving overall RMU and transformer performance, reliability and reducing costs through
establishment and implementation of preventive and reactive maintenance practices.
Oversight in troubleshooting and maintenance of all RMUs, transformer and associated
auxiliary equipment.
Utilize test equipment and instruments required to perform respective tests.
Prepare and maintain records detailing tests, repairs, and maintenance; analyze test data to
diagnose malfunction and performance characteristics.
