CT SCAN OF ABDOMEN & PELVIS (PLAIN & CONTRAST)

TECHNIQUE
Plain and contrast enhanced MDCT scan of abdomen and pelvis was performed with
multiplanar reformations. Non ionic contrast was injected intravenously.

FINDINGS

LIVER: Normal in size, shape and contour. It shows normal attenuation. No focal or
enhancing lesion noted. No intra-hepatic biliary dilatation. Portal and hepatic venous
radicles are normal. CBD is not dilated.

GALL BLADDER: Is well distended. Normal in wall thickness. No evidence of radio-


opaque calculi.

PANCREAS: Pancreatic head, body and tail are normal. It shows normal attenuation
and homogeneous enhancement. No peripancreatic stranding or collection.
No evidence of ductal dilatation or calculi. No focal abnormalities or calcifications are
noted in the pancreas.

SPLEEN: Normal in size and attenuation. No focal abnormality noted.


Splenic vein appears normal. No evidence of splenic collaterals.

ADRENALS : Both adrenals are normal in size, shape and attenuation values. No focal
lesions

BOTH KIDNEYS:
Left, mild hydroureteronephrosis due to VUJ calculus, measuring 3.5 mm.
Both kidneys are normal in size, position, axis and outlines.
Pelvi-calyceal systems are not dilated on right side. No calculus is seen on right side.
No calcifications/ hypodense or hyperdense mass lesions noted in cortex.
No perinephric collections / fat stranding noted.|
Perinephric fat appears normal.

URINARY BLADDER
Wall thickness appears normal. No evidence of calculi or intraluminal mass lesions noted.

RIGHT URETER is not dilated. No calculi are noted in the course of the ureter.

PROSTATE - Normal in size, attenuation and enhancement.

GASTRO-INTESTINAL TRACT & MESENTRY: Stomach, ‘C’ loop of duodenum and


visualised small / large bowel loops are unremarkable. Fecal loaded large bowel loops.
Mesentery and its contents in the visualised sections are normal.

PERITONEAL CAVITY: No ascites.

LYMPH NODES: No significant abdominal or pelvic lymphadenopathy seen.

RETROPERITONIUM – No lymphadenopathy noted. Abdominal aorta and inferior vena


cava are normal in calibre.

MUSCULO-SKELETAL: Degenerative changes in visualised dorso-lumbar spine.


No other significant abnormality detected in the visualised bones and soft tissues.

CHEST BASE: Visualized sections of lungs are clear. No evidence of pleural effusion.

IMPRESSION:

 Left, mild hydroureteronephrosis due to VUJ calculus (3.5 mm).
