□ 0 □ 1 □ 2 □ 3 □ 4
1.2 The following graph shows the first derivative f ′ of f on an interval I ⊂ Df . The zero of f ′ is
denoted by x0 . Which of the following statements holds for f on I?
□ f is strictly decreasing.
□ f is strictly increasing.
1.3 For which of the following functions f holds, that lim f (x) = −1 ?

1.4 Shown is the graph of the first derivative f ′ of a polynomial function f . Which of the following
statements is true for f on the following interval:
□ f is decreasing for 1 ≤ x ≤ 2.
□ f is a quadratic function.

2. The following image shows the graph of a third degree polynomial f . Point W represents the
inflection point of f .
a) Sketch the graph of f ′ of f into the above coordinate system on the shown interval!

- Part 2: Support materials allowed -
1. Let Gf ′ be the graph of the first derivative f ′ of the function f defined in R. The function f ′ is
a third degree polynomial, for which the tangent at its inflection point W (4|1) of Gf ′ has the slope
−0.75 .
d) The graph of f ′ has two critical points. Explain the importance of these points for the graph
of f !
e) Draw the graph of the second derivative f ′′ of f into the above coordinate system!
f) Calculate the slope of the tangent t and its normal n of the graph of f at xw = 2 !
2. Let na be the normal to the graph of the straight line g, where na (x) = −2x + a , a ∈ R.
a) Find the equation of the function g(x), which passes through the point (0| − 2) !
b) Draw the graphs of both functions g(x) und n0 (x) into one coordinate system!
f) Show, that the extremum of the graph of pa is always a maximum for all a ∈ R !
g) Calculate the one value of a for which the maximum of the graph of pa will lie exactly on the
y-axis!
