Preliminary Activity
 Prayer

May I request everyone to please rise for our prayer? Colby, (The students will stand for a prayer.)
please come forward and lead the prayer

 Greetings

Good morning class. Good morning Ma’am

Good morning classmates

Okay you may now take your seat Thank You Ma’am

Okay class, how are you today? We’re fine ma’am. Thank you.

 Checking of Attendance

Is there any absent today Angela? None ma’am.

Very good, keep it up class

Ok please pick up the pieces of paper under your chairs (Students pick up the pieces of paper)

 Setting of Classroom Standards

Before we will start our lesson for today, I would like you to
make a classroom rules and policies.

What should you do before the class will start? Always prepare yourself.
Pick a pieces of paper or plastics in
your surroundings.

What should you do if the class is going on? Sit properly

Listen attentively
Don't make unnecessary noise.

What will you do if you want to answer questions? Raise your hand if you have
question.
Answer only if your name is called.
Ask permission/ excuse to the
teacher if you want to go out.

What should you do after the class? Say goodbye.

Apply CLEAN AS YOU GO Policy
Arrange your chairs.
Don’t leave immediately, let the
teacher leave first.

Can I expect you to follow those rules? Yes ma’am

Very good!

 Passing/Checking of Assignments
Ok class please pass your assignment forward.

Elicit

Class can you still remember what was our lesson yesterday? Yes ma’am.

So what was that?

Yes Thalia? Our topic yesterday ma’am is all about

Cell.
Yes you are right!

Now who wants to describe Cell?

Cell is the smallest, basic unit of life
Yes Ana? that is responsible for all life’s process.
.
Very good!

Cell are the building blocks of all living beings. They

provide structure to the body and covert the nutrients taken
from the food into energy.

Engage

Lets play a game! 4 Pics 1 Word. And here is the first word.

Do you know already? Yes ma’am Cell

Yes you are! The correct here is CELL

Let’s have the second word.

Do you know the answer now? Yes ma’am Cycle.

That’s correct! The second word is CYCLE

For todays lesson, we will be discussing the Cell Cycle. But

before that, these are the objectives for today’s lesson.

At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

a. Describe Cell Cycle;
b. Identify the stages of cell cycle and its
substages.
c. Appreciate the importance of cell cycle in
our daily lives.

And now, let’s have an activity first. Are you ready class?
Yes ma’am.

Explore

This activity entitled HANAPIN MO AKO! Before we will

start, the class will be divided into 6 groups.

Materials:
 Puzzled
 Worksheets

Instructions:
1. The teacher will give a puzzled of cell cycle
2. The students will arrange the puzzle.
3. When the puzzle complete, the students will list the
identified words on the worksheet. (students will perform the task)
4. Each group will be given only 5 minutes to finish the
task.

Is that clear class?

Yes ma’am.
Okay time is up! Let’s check your answers.
Answer: Answers:

 G1 phase
 S phase
 G2 phase
 Cell Division
 Interphase
Good job class for do your best! Okay please settle down
and go back to your chairs.

Explain

Our group activity a while ago has something to do with our

lesson for today. All of the terms that you had identified
earlier are the stages present in cell cycle.

Since our topic for today is all about Cell Cycle, do you
know what Cell Cycle is? Yes Jodea? A Cell cycle is series of events that
takes place in a cell as it grows and
Yes very good! divides.

Cell Cycle
- A series of steps includes cell growth, duplication of
genetic material (DNA) and cell division usually
resulted to identical cells.
In other words, the cell processes through various steps in
order to grow, duplicates its DNA and finally split into two
or even four new cells. The cell cycle maybe divided into 2
stages:
2 STAGES OF CELL CYCLE
1. Interphase- is divided into 3 substages.
 G1-Phase
- stands for First Gap period.
- the cell grows initially
 S-Phase
- also known as the synthesis stage
- it characterized by protein and RNA synthesis which
is synthesized based on the DNA is then used to
synthesized proteins. The middle stage of interphase
called the synthesis stage is the period of DNA
synthesis or replication. The chromosomes are
duplicated in the preparation of the next cell division.
 G2-Phase
- the Second Gap period
- represents a period of rapid cell growth to prepare
cell division.
2. M-Phase
- also called Cell Division.
- a phase where cell division occurs to produce
daughter cells.
- in eukaryotic cells, there are 2 types of cell divisions.

2 Types of Cell Division

1. Mitosis- a cell division that produces 2 identical
cells with the same number of chromosomes.
2. Meiosis- is where the cell undergoes 2 rounds of
cell division to produce 4 daughter cells, each
with half the chromosome number as the original
parent cell.

Elaborate

Since we’re talking about mitosis and mitosis and meiosis,

let’s discuss about its parts and functions.

 Spindle fibers- is the cytoskeletal structure of

eukaryotic cells that form during cell division to
separates sister chromatids between daughter cells.
 Chromosomes- are thread-like structures located
inside the nucleus.

Parts of chromosomes:
 Chromatids- two identical halves of
replicated chromosome.
 Centromere- the attachment points of the
two chromatids of a chromosomes.
 Short/P arm- upper arms of the
chromosomes which is usually shorter.
 Q arm- lower arms of chromosome
which is usually longer.

 Centrioles- a paired barrel-shaped organelles located

in the cytoplasm of animal cells near the nuclear
envelope.

Did you understand class?

Any question or clarification? Yes ma’am.

Then, may I ask the class what is importance of cell cycle in None ma’am.
our daily lives? Yes Johnver?
The cell cycle is the most important
Yes exactly! Very good Johnver! process in the growth of an organism.
Cell cycle affects our daily lives. Most cancers are result of
inappropriate cell division. For example when your skin
scratch, cell divide to replace old, dead or damage cells.
And please take note of this class. When organism grow, it
isn’t because cells are getting larger. Organism grow
because cells are dividing to produce more and more cells.

It seems that you really understand our topic for today.

Generalization:
Cell Cycle is a series of steps includes cell growth,
duplication of genetic material (DNA) and cell division
usually resulted to identical cells. The cell cycle divided into
2 stages: the interphase which has a 3 substages (G1 Phase,
S-Phase and G2-Phase) and M-phase also called the cell
division and it has a 2 types (Mitosis and Meiosis). The cell
cycle is the most important process in the growth of an
organism. When organism grow, it isn’t because cells are
getting larger. Organism grow because cells are dividing to
produce more and more cells.

And that’s all for today’s discussion. I hope that you’ve

learned something from me today.
