INTRODUCTION

Elite Home Furniture, located at 342 Jalan Yahya in Kota Bharu, Kelantan provides high-
quality, contemporary furniture for homes and workplaces. We provide a large choice of
furniture items, including couches, dining tables, beds, workplace desks, and ergonomic
chairs. The materials that Elite Home Furniture Bhd prioritizes in products are rubberwood,
meranti, jati and more. We pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainability, sourcing
eco-friendly materials, and supporting local artisans. Our company operations include design
suggestions, custom furniture manufacture, and a showroom where buyers may see our
items firsthand. We aim to enhance the living and working environments of our customers by
providing stylish, comfortable, and durable furniture solutions. Elite Home Furniture hires 7
employees to assists in this business. All the employees have been given different positions,
one of them is a manager, two of them are delivery men and the rest are promoters. Elite
Home Furniture also have a few branches located outside Kelantan and two small
warehouses which are used for furniture stock storage located at Pasir Mas and Pengkelan
Chepa near the branch. Elite Home Furniture started business on 1 January 2020 and
financial year end at 31 December 2023 and the financial was authorized on 30 June 2024.

Purchase new asset

1. On 1 January, Elite Home Furniture purchased a new plant and equipment but has
not been recorded in any account with cost of RM150,000.

1. Building has a salvage value of RM750,000 and 20 years starting from 1 January
2023 and it is depreciated based on straight line method yearly basis.

Revaluation

1. Elite Home Furniture adopted the revaluation model for its land. It acquired freehold
land on 1 January 2022 with a cost of RM16,625,000. On 31 December 2023, the fair
value is RM17,000,000 due to the location of the property that is highly valuable.

Impairment Test

1. Building was purchased 2 years ago and being written off over a period of 20 years.
Due to ecological changes, the area was hit by serious flood in 2023. On 31
December 2023, the fair value less costs to sell is RM4,550,000 and the value in use
is RM4,300,000.

Workings:

Depreciation: (5,000,000-750,000)/20 = RM212,500

Carrying amount: 5,000,000 – 512,500 = RM4,487,500

Recoverable amount: 4,487,500 – 4,450,000 = RM37,500

Disposal

1. On 9 November 2023, Elite Home Furniture decided to dispose an old plant and
equipment because of electrical discharge, costing RM300,000. Estimated useful life
of the plant and equipment is 10 years and it has been used for 2 years. Proceed
from sale amounting RM250,000.

1. On 4 April 2023, Elite Home Furniture acquired a building that is vacant but is held to
be leased out for an amount of RM60,000 but has not been recorded in any account.

Prior Period Error

1. Payment RM9,000 was made to the trade supplier on 10 January 2022. The payment
was accounted as employee salaries and included as administrative expenses. The
error was discovered in 2023.

2. On 3 March 2023, Elite Home Furniture discovered fraudulent transactions made by


employee and immediately dismissed him. Cash receipts from customers totalling
RM470,000 had been divested by the employee since 2021. A quarter (1/4) was
stolen during the current year ending 31 December 2023 while the remaining was
stolen during the previous year. As of 31 December 2022, the retained earnings of
Elite Home Furniture were RM800,000.

1. On 5 Mei 2024, it was discovered that RM250,000 worth of inventory become


obsolete due to technological advancement.

1. A dividend of RM500,000 is declared after year-end on 5 January 2024.

2. 22 June 2024, one of Elite Home Furniture warehouses located at Pasir Mas was
damages because of a flood. A loss of RM10,000 is estimated for damages
inventories.

MFRS137

Provision

1. An employee was injured during working hours. She took legal action and sought
damages of RM10,000 on 16 February 2023. The company has taken legal advice
and is confident will be held liable.

Contingent asset

1. Elite Home Furniture filed a lawsuit against Puan Hamidah on 25 June 2023 for
reselling sofa amounting RM9,000 that she won from a lucky draw. In this case, she
has breached the terms and conditions of the lucy draw. Elite Home Furniture sued
Puan Hamidah to pay RM10,000 for the breach of contract. However, the case is still
pending.

MFRS15

1. On 15 January 2023, Elite Home Furniture entered a contract to transfer a product to


Encik Adam on 31 January 2023. The contract is structured that Encik Adam required
to pay the full contract price of RM3,800 on 31 January 2023. However, the payment
still not received on the date that was stated. The cost of good transfer is RM1,000.
Elite Home Furniture delivered the product to Encik Adam on 31 January 2023.

2. On 8 September 2023, Elite Home Furniture entered a contract to transfer dining


table and queen bed to Cik Syafira for RM2,500. The contract specifies that payment
of dining table will not occur until the queen bed is also delivered. In other words,
payment will not occur until both furniture are transferred to Cik Syafira. Elite Home
Furniture determined that stand alone prices are RM700 for dining table and
RM1,800 for queen bed. The delivery of the dining table to Cik Syafira was made on
5 October and 20 October 2023, Elite Home Furniture then delivered the queen bed
to Cik Syafira.

1. On 2 November 2023, Rayyan purchased furniture amounting to RM7,000 under


credit term 5/15, net 19 assuming that Rayyan took the cash discount. Then, on 13
November 2023, Rayyan paid for the furniture and got 5% of the purchase.

Elite Home Furniture incurs the following cost for the purchase:

Transportation cost RM2,000 and handling cost RM500

However, Elite Home Furniture paid on the same date with cheque.
