CT042-3-1-Introduction to Databases ERD

Tutorial 8

Draw an ERD based on the following scenario

A property agency sells second-hand properties such as houses, shop lots and condominiums
to customers across Malaysia. Information such as property type, price, and year built should
be kept in the database. The agency usually assigns one individual staff member as the
contact person for a particular property. He/she arranges appointments to view the property
with interested customer.

An interested customer refers to the agency to view properties. When a customer requests to
view a property, he/she is assigned a unique number. Their information such as name, contact
and occupation are kept as well. The database must keep a record for a particular appointment
such as who viewed which property during which day and customers’ comment (if any). The
customer could view one or more properties several times until he/she makes a decision.

To attract more customers, the agency usually advertises their properties in the newspapers.
Usually different properties can advertised in different newspapers once or more than once.
This information is kept in the database too.
