1 Control Panel
The operator panel is composed by a set of switches,
pushbuttons and a touchscreen HMI.

1.1 Main Controls


Two switches are provided: one to select the control
mode (LOCAL or REMOTE), one to select the running
pump (if redundant pump is available).

Two buttons are provided to start and stop the


selected pump.

1.2 HMI panel


The touchscreen HMI panel handles the interaction
between the operator and the control system.

The HMI is a touch panel with a software program;


simply tap the panel with a fingertip to operate on it.

The HMI program contains many different screens.


The operator can navigate between screens as
described in this chapter.

1.2.1 Control Bar Menu

Menu button: tap on menu to view menu options.


Menu allows the operator to access to other pages.

Login page: tap on Login to change access level.

The system has two access level:


- Operator
- ALSE (Alfa Laval Service Engineer)

To login in a desired access level:


- Tap on User name button and select the
desired access level.
- Tap on the Password button and insert the
correct password.
- Tap on Log in button
To logout:
- Go to Log in page
- Tap on Log out button

Setting page: tap on Settings to access to:


- Login (already described above)
- Parameters
- Time
- Service

Info page: tap on info page for information about


installed software version.

1.2.2 Settings Menu

Parameter page: tap on Parameters button to access


the Parameters page.

Parameters > Installed Devices


This page allows to change the configuration of the
system.

NOTE

Installed Devices menu is only available


with ALSE (Alfa Laval Service Engineer)
access level.

Parameters > Process Parameters

This page allows the operator to change parameters


related to process components.

NOTE

In this page is possible to set the switching


temperature for the heat tracing (if installed).

Parameters > Alarms Delays

This page allows the operator to set the delay for


pressure and temperature alarms to be active.

Parameters > Alarms Limits

This page allows the operator to set the threshold of


pressure and temperature alarms.
See the Parameter List for full listing.

Parameters > Reset to factory setpoints

It is always possible to reset all the process


parameters to factory setpoint tapping the button
“Reset to factory setpoints”

Factory setpoints are indicated on the column


“default” in the parameter list.

Time page: tap on Time button to change date and


time.

NOTE

To change time settings the operator (user) has to be


logged as “Advanced operator”.

To enable manual setting:


- tap the button “Enable to set the time
manually”.
- Change date and time
- tap the button “Set Time”.

Service page: This page allows the operator to


access to the following functions:

Service > Info

Tap on info page to check installed software version.

Service > Counters

Tap on info page to know running time (minutes) of


pump(s).

Service > Overview

Tap on info page to check the status of the digital and


analog inputs and outputs from the PLC.

1.2.3 Alarm History

The presence of any active alarms is indicated by a


red and blue alarm icon at main bar. The red and
blue alarm icon flashes until all active alarms have
been acknowledged.

A white and blue icon means no active alarms.

Tap on Alarms button to enter Alarms page.

In case there is an active alarm, the alarm button


leads directly to alarm list.
In case there is not an active alarm, the alarm button
leads to a page where is possible to view the alarms
history.

Unacknowledged alarms
If there is at least an unacknowledged alarm the
Alarm symbol is blinking (red and white) and the
related active alarm is marked in RED colour.

Unacknowledged alarms have a red background colour.

On this page the operator can:


- Acknowledge alarms one by one using the
white arrows on the HMI and tapping on
the single green button.
- Acknowledge all alarms together tapping
on the multiple green button.

Never reset an alarm without first finding and


remedying the cause.

Acknowledged alarms
To acknowledge an alarm select it tapping on
alarm line and then tap the Acknowledge button.

The alarms page stays in this status until all alarms


are acknowledged and not active.

When the alarm condition is no longer fulfilled,


acknowledged alarms disappear from the alarm list.

If all alarms are acknowledged but there is at least


an acknowledged alarm that is still active, the
Alarm symbol is of a fixed RED color (not blinking).

Acknowledged alarms currently active have yellow


background colour.

further information on alarms and the related
troubleshooting actions.

1.2.4 Speed selection

Modules designed to pump HFO can be operated at


two different fixed speeds/pump capacities by mean
of a Frequency converter; the frequency converter
controls ramp-up speed when pumping high viscosity
fuel.

Speed selection can be chosen by pressing the button


on the HMI panel. Every push of the button will cycle
between “Speed 1” (high speed / high capacity) and
“Speed 2” (low speed / low capacity).

2 Normal Operation
2.1 Before start
The following procedures assumes that the system
pipework and the valves arrangement is set for
operation (valves open and pipework secured).
Moreover, it is assumed that the commissioning
actions described in the Installation System Reference
booklet have been successfully performed.

Make sure that the pumps are filled with oil before start,
otherwise the pumps shaft seal will be damaged. For
pumps startup recommendations, see Installation
System Reference booklet.

NOTE
Make sure that all pipelines have been flushed before
start, otherwise all main components will be damaged.
For first startup procedure, see Installation System
Reference booklet.

• Turn the main switch on the cabinet to ON.


• Put the selector switch to LOCAL mode.

2.2 Initial settings


Set parameters and setpoint for the temperature control
by heat tracing (see Parameter List booklet).

Set the required speed / pump capacity (only for pumps


equipped with optional VFD).

2.3 Start
Select the running pump with the selector switch (if installed)
and start the pump by pressing the START button.

2.4 Stop
Stop the running pump by pressing the STOP button.
By stopping the system as described below, no
alarms will be activated.

NOTE
The pump changeover in case of low pressure
alarm is not automatic. The system is designed
to start automatically the second pump (if installed)
only when the selector switch “pump priority” is
operated while any pump is running.

NOTE
Since the pumps shaft seal has to be lubricated, a small
amount of oil will drop from the pump. About 10 drops
per hours is considered normal.

If the leakage amount is higher, the shaft seal should be


replaced immediately to avoid additional damages.

2.5 Remote Control


The remote control of the Pump Skids can be
performed through the Remote Control Box
(if installed, according to order).

NOTE
It is always possible to stop the system by mean of
the STOP pushbutton on the local control panel,
regardless the system is in LOCAL or REMOTE mode.

Modbus TCP/IP is available for Remote


monitoring. See Modbus List booklet for details.

2.6 Regular checks on the


system
Regularly check the process values to note any
unusual changes.

When the outside ambient temperature is high,


regularly check the internal control panel
temperature. This should be max 55°C.

2.7 Emergency stop


In case of emergency, the module can be stopped by
pushing the emergency stop pushbutton on the
control panel or the remote control box (if installed)
or by energizing the Emergency Shutdown Device.

To reset the emergency stop release the emergency


pushbutton and press the RESET EMERGENCY STOP
button. Alarm A01 should also be acknowledged on
the HMI before operating the system again.

Never reset emergency stop without first


remedying the problem.
