Module 7 Learning Task 3

1. Based on Anthony’s sharing of his childhood, he had trouble in which process of


reading?
- Anthony’s story revolved around the difficulty he encountered while trying to decipher
written language. A key component of reading is decoding, which is a process of
converting written symbols or letters into their corresponding sounds and then combining
those sounds to create words. This process can be challenging and error-prone for people
with dyslexia because they struggle with phonological awareness, quick naming, and
instinctive word recognition.

2. What do you think is the impact of dyslexia on children?


- Dyslexia can affect many aspects on a person especially on a child. At an early age,
children are taught basic things like writing, reading, counting and solving numbers and
they are expected to learn them. But as for children with dyslexia, they will have a hard
time reading because of their condition. This will allow them to have extra strategies to
have them learn how to overcome their conditions. Additionally, other children will try to
make fun of them not having the ability to read which will affect the self-esteem of the
dyslexic children which will now make them hate their self for having a condition.

3. Do you think the strategies for learning support were effective in helping Anthony
overcome his difficulties? Why or why not?
- Yes. In the video, the instructor allowed Anthony to draw rather than read to create a
story. And with it, Anthony was able to tell his story to the class using his drawings.
Anthony has trouble with written language, which allows him to have trouble reading.
One way to overcome this is through imagery, which is what the instructor allowed him
to do. With pictures and imagery, Anthony can easily express what he wants to express
which is easier for him than reading. This strategy is very effective as it allows people
with dyslexia to understand the concept without having to read.

4. What are your insights about the video?


- The video offers valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs of individuals with
dyslexia. It clarifies the significance of comprehending and assisting those who have
dyslexia, as well as the possibility of success for them with the right interventions and
adjustments. The film highlights how crucial it is to identify dyslexics early on, providing
them with individualized guidance, and cultivating a positive outlook in order to help
them realize their full potential and succeed both academically and personally.

5. As a future professional, how would you enlighten the members of the community about
the plight of individuals with dyslexia?
- First of all, I would have an education and awareness campaigns. People have little
knowledge about what dyslexia is and this allows them to make fun or criticize people
who have them without knowing that the person is dyslexic. Having people be informed
about this will allow them to treat people with this condition with upmost respect. I
would also invite people who have dyslexia who share their stories and testimonies to
make people emphatic to people who have these conditions. Finally, I will try to
collaborate with schools and educators to implement dyslexia-friendly practices in
classrooms. This will also provide training for teachers on recognizing dyslexia,
implementing evidence-based interventions, and creating inclusive learning
environments.
