3. Do you think the strategies for learning support were effective in helping Anthony
overcome his difficulties? Why or why not?
- Yes. In the video, the instructor allowed Anthony to draw rather than read to create a
story. And with it, Anthony was able to tell his story to the class using his drawings.
Anthony has trouble with written language, which allows him to have trouble reading.
One way to overcome this is through imagery, which is what the instructor allowed him
to do. With pictures and imagery, Anthony can easily express what he wants to express
which is easier for him than reading. This strategy is very effective as it allows people
with dyslexia to understand the concept without having to read.
5. As a future professional, how would you enlighten the members of the community about
the plight of individuals with dyslexia?
- First of all, I would have an education and awareness campaigns. People have little
knowledge about what dyslexia is and this allows them to make fun or criticize people
who have them without knowing that the person is dyslexic. Having people be informed
about this will allow them to treat people with this condition with upmost respect. I
would also invite people who have dyslexia who share their stories and testimonies to
make people emphatic to people who have these conditions. Finally, I will try to
collaborate with schools and educators to implement dyslexia-friendly practices in
classrooms. This will also provide training for teachers on recognizing dyslexia,
implementing evidence-based interventions, and creating inclusive learning
environments.
