BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

The author, Joan B. Aleria was born on March 28,2000 in Manay, Davao

Oriental. She’s the third daughter among the five children of Mrs. Melinda B. Aleria and

Mr. Elizardo J. Aleria. Her mother lives in Manay, Davao Oriental while her father lives in

Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

She completed her elementary education at Gregorio Moralizon Elementary

School ll and graduated in year 2011-2012. She also completed her Junior High School

at Evaristo Moralizon National Vocational High School. While her senior high school was

in Mati National Comprehensive High School and enrolled in Humanities and Social

Sciences. She’s now a college student, she took up Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness

Management at Davao Oriental State University. She is grateful that she able to passed

the entrance exam of the State University and Scholarship Test (SUAST) before

entering College. She completed her Supervised field of Experience on Nipa Products in

Barangay Central, Manay Davao Oriental. Thus, she’s aiming to pass all her subjects to

be able to graduate on time, so the hard work and sacrifices of her parents will totally

pay off. Soon, in God's perfect timing, she will take the Licensure Examination of

Agriculture (LEA).

The Product Development Project on Sweet Potato Puto with Pandan Powder as
newly introduced innovative product in Manay, Davao Oriental. The product was made
of sweet potato, all purpose flour, and pandan powder. These are the objectives of the
study; 1.)To conduct product market survey/taste test of sweet potato puto with pandan
powder. 2.) To determine the total investment in processing sweet potato puto with
pandan powder. 3.) to determine the necessary product costs. 4.)to compute for the
Return On Investment (ROI) in processing sweet potato puto with pandan powder. 5.) to
compute the payback period in the processing of sweet potato puto with pandan powder.
6.) To conduct shelf-life experiment of sweet potato puto with pandan powder.

This study also aimed to determine the acceptability and potential of the product.
The market survey was conducted and 100 respondents were chosen from its target
market. The total number of males who participated were 43, while there are 57
females. The market survey used a questionnaire and the hedonic scale.
This study also aimed to determine the total investment in processing sweet
potato puto with pandan powder, which was Php 497,353.00 in one year. With regards
to the necessary product costs, this product innovation could spend Php 236,376 in one
year. The said sweet potato puto with pandan powder, has a return on investment (ROI)
of thirty nine percent (39%). Payback period 2.5 or 2 years and 5 months year-period.
The shelf-life of sweet potato puto is 2 days under ambient temperature
Overall, with its viability and acceptability to the general audience, the proponent
gathered the data displaying an overall positive response with the product innovation for
the general consensus.
