Online Counselling Process

After qualifying in CET24 for admissions to IMU with the Rank Certificates issued
by IMU in June 2024, the candidates who are willing to join UG Programmes at
IMU Campuses will have to register for Online Counselling. The names of the
candidates who have been allotted seats through Online Counselling will be
notified through the Admission Lists. The process to be followed from registration
for Online Counselling till confirming the allotted seat is divided into three stages
which are described below. The candidate will be admitted only if they clear all
three stages.

Stage I - (Registration for Online Counselling):

1. Candidates will be required to register for Online Counselling for admission to

IMU Campuses, which will include the following:

a. Choose the Programme(s) and the IMU Campus (es) that you would like
to join in the order of your preference. For e.g. If your first choice is to join
the B.Tech (Marine Engineering) programme in IMU Kolkata Campus and
second choice is to join B.Sc (Nautical Science) in IMU Navi Mumbai
Campus, then the First Preference should be selected as B.Tech (ME) in
IMU Kolkata Campus and Second Preference should be selected as B.Sc
(NS) in IMU Navi Mumbai Campus.

Note: Candidates are advised to choose multiple preferences

(Programmes and IMU Campus combinations) based on the eligibility
criteria that they fulfill. All preferences have to be submitted at this
stage. Once the application is submitted, no changes will be
entertained during that round of Counselling.

2. For Registering to the Online Counselling, a candidate will have to make

Online Payment of the Counselling Fee of Rs. 10,000/- to IMU. No other
mode of payment will be entertained.

Note: The Counselling Fee of Rs. 10,000/- is non-refundable for those

candidates whose names have been selected and published in the Admission
List(s) of IMU. However, if any candidate who has registered for Online
Counselling and whose name has not been reflected in any of the Admission
List(s) published by IMU, such candidate will be eligible for refund of
Rs.9,000/- after deducting Rs.1,000/- towards processing fees.
3. For the Candidates admitted to IMU Campuses, the Counselling Fee paid is
adjusted towards Admission Registration Fee of Rs.10,000/-.
4. In Online Counselling, the allotment of seat to the candidates to a
Programme/Campus will be done automatically by a software based on
(i) IMU CET Rank
(ii) Category,
(iii) Choices of Programmes and Campuses, and
(iv) the availability of seats.

The Online Counselling Software will choose the Programme-Campus

combination in the order of preference selected by the candidate for allotment
of a seat. Candidates should note that unless they register for Online
Counselling with multiple preferences, they may lose out on their chances of
upgradation in the Second List.
5. The Last Date for registering to the Online Counselling process is
26.06.2024. The First Admission List will be published on 01.07.2024
(tentatively).
Stage II - (Confirmation of Seat Allotted) Applicable for all Admission
Lists:

1. All candidates who have been allotted seat in the First Admission List will be
intimated through Email. They can download the Provisional Allotment Letter
after logging in.

refundable) before the prescribed date mentioned in the Provisional
Allotment Letter in order to:
a. Confirm acceptance of the Seat Allotted
b. To become eligible for upgradation of preference in the subsequent
Admission List, if applicable.
3. If the Programme Fee is not paid before the prescribed date, then the
candidate shall be treated as a ‘drop out’ and shall forgo the allotted
seat, forfeit the Counselling Fee and will not be considered for
upgradation of preference in subsequent Admission Lists. That is, the
allotted seat to the candidate will be cancelled, and the candidate cannot lay
any claim over the seat at a later date, will not be considered for upgradation
nor can claim refund for the Online Counselling Fee of Rs. 10,000/-.
4. On successful online payment of the Programme Fee of Rs.30,000/-, the
Candidates will be informed through a ‘Provisional Seat Confirmation
Letter’ the period during which they should report before the Director of the

Admission List. However, he/she may get upgraded on the basis of availability
of seat in subsequent Admission List. In order to get upgraded, the Candidate
should first accept the seat allotted as per the First Admission List by

who opted for up-gradation, some of them may get upgraded in the
subsequent Admission List(s) i.e. they may get a higher Preference (as per
their order of preference) or candidates whose names did not appear in the
previous Admission list will be allotted a seat. A candidate once upgraded
cannot demand his previous allotment and will need to accept the new
allotment.

allotted a seat in the subsequent Admission list, such candidates have to follow
the similar steps as given at Stage II - para 1 and 2 above.
