TUTORIAL WORKSHOP

Support Date: Subject: PHYSICS Term: SECOND

Mrs.: NATHALIA BAQUERO MACIAS Grade: FIFTH
Student´s Name:

General indicator: To understand energy conservation reason and their effects in nature and our daily life

PRESENTATION: Dear student. According to the following information you will find activities or exercises that help
you improve those studied or covered topics. The workshop must be developed well organized on a gridded sheet,
you must deliver it on the tutorial class day, and due to the fact, that, based on it your questions and doubts will
be cleared up.

WHAT IS THE PRINCIPLE OF ENERGY CONSERVATION?

In physics, the term conservation refers to something that does not change. This means that the variable in an
equation that represents a conservative amount is constant over time. It has the same value before and after an event.
In physics, there are many conserved quantities. Often, they are especially useful to make predictions in which
otherwise would be extremely complicated situations. In mechanics, three fundamental quantities are preserved:
energy, moment, and angular momentum.
If you have seen examples in other articles, like, for example, the kinetic energy of ramming elephants, then you may
be surprised that energy is a conserved amount. After all, energy often changes in collisions. It turns out that there
are a couple of key statements that we must add:
- Energy, as we will discuss in this article, is the total energy of a system. When objects move in time, their
associated energy (for example, kinetic energy, gravitational potential energy, heat) can change shape, but if
the energy is retained, then the total energy will remain the same.
- Energy conservation is only valid for closed systems. A ball that rolls on a rough floor will not obey the Energy
Conservation Act, since it is not isolated from the floor; In fact, this one does a job on the ball because of the
friction. However, if we consider the ball along with the floor, the law of Conservation of energy is fulfilled.
Normally, we would call this combination the floor-ball system.
