As a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairman in Metro Manila, you play a vital role
leading your barangay's youth council. We are conducting a research study that
focuses on SK Chairpersons to gain valuable insights into decision-making styles
Participant Selection within Philippine youth governance. Your participation will help us assess how SK
Chairpersons make decisions in different situations. To ensure relevant experience,
the selection criteria prioritize current SK Chairpersons.
This research aims to assess decision-making styles and understand how different
situations influence these decisions. You will be asked to complete a 25-item
questionnaire to identify your decision-making style. If you are selected and agree
to participate in an optional follow-up interview, we will discuss the factors that
influence your decisions in greater detail.
Purpose
The data collected will be used for a Senior High School research project in
compliance with Practical Research 2 and Inquiries, Investigation, and Immersion.
The findings may be published for academic purposes only. There are no conflicts of
interest associated with this study.
 The data gathering from SK Chairpersons involves three phases: First, you will
complete a short online questionnaire (GDMSQ) distributed by SK Federations,
which takes about 15-20 minutes. This phase will require your personal information:
your name, city, and barangay to confirm that you are an SK Chairman in Metro
Manila. If you agree and are selected for the next phase, you must provide your

contact number and Facebook account link for convenient contact, as you will
participate in a recorded interview via Google Meet to delve deeper into your
decision-making experiences. This interview should last between 30 and 60
minutes. Finally, a portion of participants may be invited for a follow-up interview to
clarify specific details, but you will be contacted only if necessary.
There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts associated with participating in this
research. The questionnaire and interview will focus on understanding your

play (the domains affecting your decision-making). The results of the research will
not directly affect your personal well-being.
Your participation will offer benefits and contribute to a greater understanding of
SK Chairman decision-making. Through assessing your decision-making styles and
experiences, you will gain increased self-awareness of your leadership style. More
significantly, your knowledge will benefit SK Chairpersons in the future. The findings

meet the demands of young leaders. More opportunities for leadership will
therefore be fostered inside the Philippine youth governance. In the long run, this
research can impact policy changes that more effectively promote youth leadership
activities within your barangays.

Participation in this research is entirely free of charge. There are no fees to

participation is convenient and can be done at your own pace.
This study prioritizes the confidentiality of your information. We adhere to the Data
Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173) to ensure all data collected, including your
questionnaire responses and interview recordings, remains confidential. Your name
and any other details that could identify you will be excluded from any reports or
publications. To further guarantee anonymity, we will assign you a unique
participant code.

It is important to note that while confidentiality is a priority, there are a few

Confidentiality exceptions. Authorized personnel, such as the researchers and mentors conducting
the study, may inspect the data. However, they are legally bound to protect any
information that could identify you. Additionally, in rare circumstances, disclosure
of data may be required by law or a court order.

Lastly, all data will be securely stored for two years. After this period, all copies
containing participant data and responses will be permanently deleted in the
owner’s storage to ensure complete privacy.
 Participating in this research is entirely voluntary. You can choose not to participate
at all or withdraw at any point without penalty or impact on your relationship with

informed about the study's progress and offer a summary of the findings upon
completion.
