Before you leave.

Here are some of the essential elements that will make your life a whole lot easier on your
travels. This is a guideline, but there are many other options available at your nearest electronic
store or via sites like Amazon.com. Please Note the prices are subject to change.

1. Battery

Remember to pack a extra charger in your backpack!

It is also a good idea to keep an international power adapter if you are going abroad.

Then we strongly recommend you get yourself a compact power bank. There are 100s of
models & sizes available. Your average price is between $10 & $15.

2. Storage

Delete old video projects, useless video clips, unwanted music & apps.

For extra storage space you can get yourself a:


Lexar JumpDrive C20i
This device plugs directly into your iPhone. You can store your footage
on this device as well as transfer the clips to your computer if you would
prefer to edit on your computer later. The Lexar JumpDrives come in the
following options and range from $29 to $80.

3. Applications - ​Keep it simple.

Filming
At this stage we recommend you use the standard
Photo App that comes with your iPhone.

Editing
We will be using SPLICE by GoPro in our course.
It is available for ​Free​ in the App Store.

5. Accessories
Stability

JOBY ​GripTight Mount JOBY Gorillapod

These two ​Joby ​products make a great lightweight travel combination. Perfect for setup shots &
extra stability when hand-held. The GripTight Mount comes in two sizes for small & large
phones at $11 & $17 respectively. The Gorillapod retails between $20 & $40 depending on size.

Sound
These are the two best options if you would like to up your sound quality.

1. Rode VideoMic Me Directional Microphone for Smartphones


If you are going to be talking to other people (strangers or family) this is a quick and easy mic
that just pops directly into your phone. This particular mic is on the pricer side at $60, but you
will not be disappointed.

2. ​Lavalier Lapel Microphone for Apple IPhone

If you are going to be talking to camera yourself, this is a


fantastic cheap option to get the best audio quality possible.
There are a few types on the market ranging from $10 to $40.
We suggest you go with a middle of the range one.
