INDUSTRIAL TRAINING FIRST REPORT

A. INTRODUCTION

My internship started when I was assigned to Heitech Defence Systems Sdn Bhd department.

As a software developer intern at Heitech Padu Berhad, my role involves working closely with

the task assigned by my supervisor, Encik Azli which is to design, implement, and maintain

software systems that meet the needs and requirements given. During this internship, I have

been tasked with projects and responsibilities that have allowed me to gain valuable experience

in software development, UI/UX design and database management.

This evaluation report aims to provide an overview of my performance, achievements, and

learning experiences during this internship. It includes reflections on my contributions to

ongoing projects, challenges encountered, and my progress in acquiring new skills and

knowledge. The insights gained from this report will serve as a foundation for future

improvement and growth as a software developer.

B. PROGRESS

Week 1 (March 4 - March 8, 2024)

During the first week of my internship, I participated in orientation and induction activities led

by Encik Azli and began tasks such as Windows 10 installation, storage partitioning, and

network configuration. I explored programming languages like C#, which I previously learned

in university, and applied my knowledge to hands-on projects. I also joined team gatherings and

prepared for the upcoming Ramadan celebration party. Additionally, I practiced using Microsoft

Visual C# 2010 and discussed upcoming tasks with Encik Azli, honing my time management

and task prioritization skills. This week strengthened my technical abilities and improved my

teamwork and collaboration within the workplace.

Week 2 (March 11 - March 15, 2024)

During Week 2, my internship focused on intensive learning and practice in C# programming at

the HeiTech Defence Department. I dedicated time to watching tutorial videos on a range of C#

topics, from fundamental concepts like data types, variables, and control structures to more

advanced subjects such as object-oriented programming, functions, and arrays. I also gained

hands-on experience in GUI development and file handling. These activities built upon my

existing programming knowledge and expanded my ability to work with C# features and create

efficient, user-friendly applications. My prior exposure to languages like Java helped me grasp

complex concepts in C# more effectively, and my software engineering background enabled me

to appreciate the real-world applications of C# in various projects.

Week 3 (March 18 - March 22, 2024)

During Week 3, my internship at HeiTech Defence System centered on progressing the

Workstation Management Console application. I worked on drafting the Software Requirement

Specification (SRS) document, focusing on meticulous requirement gathering and translating

these requirements into comprehensive use case diagrams and detailed descriptions. I continued

the user interface (UI) design process, exploring design principles for intuitive and appealing

interfaces while utilizing Microsoft Visual WinForms for alignment with system workflows and

requirements. My background in software development and UI design allowed me to deepen

my understanding of the SDLC process and apply efficient design techniques. Collaboration

and communication with Encik Azli facilitated continuous improvement and alignment with

project goals.

Week 4 (March 25 - March 29, 2024)

During Week 4, I was on medical leave for three days due to diarrhoea and one day due to a

high fever. Additionally, there was a public holiday for Nuzul Quran, resulting in minimal work

progress during the week.

Week 5 (April 1 - April 5, 2024)

During Week 5, my focus was on designing and developing various components of the

Workstation Management Console (WMC) using Microsoft Visual C# 2010. I worked on

designing user interfaces and utilized panels and flow layout panels to improve layout and

container management. Designing connected pages such as add, edit, and delete workstations

enhanced my understanding of page navigation and application connectivity. These experiences

strengthened my existing skills in software development, particularly in creating functional and

user-friendly software applications.

C. CONCLUSION

In conclusion, my internship experience at HeiTech Defence Systems department over

the past weeks has provided valuable opportunities for growth and learning in various

aspects of software development. From mastering C# programming fundamentals and

UI design to collaborating effectively with supervisors and peers, I have gained hands-

on experience that complements my academic background and enhances my practical

skills. These experiences have prepared me well for future challenges in the field and

have solidified my foundation in software development. I am confident that the

knowledge and skills I have acquired will be instrumental in my continued professional

development and future contributions to the industry.
