1. Hành động thường xuyên, theo thói quen

Ex:

I walk to school every day.

He often plays game.

2. Diễn tả chân lý, sự thật hiển nhiên

Ex:

The Earth (move) moves around the Sun.

3. Diễn tả lịch trình

Đa số dấu hiệu sẽ là lịch đi tàu, xe buýt, thời khóa biểu,…

Ex:

The land (take off) takes off at 7 am and (land) lands at 10 am.

The bus arrives at 9. ( no: the bus will arrive at 9)

4. Dùng trong câu điều kiện loại 1

1. Cộng với tính từ

2. Cộng với một danh từ
He is a doctor.
3. Cộng với giới từ (in, on, at, under,..)

Đi với động từ thường

Ví dụ : go, swim, play, like, wash, ….

I go to the gym.

I don’t go to the gym

(số ít) he/ she/ it does

He doesn’t go to the gym

How often …… she…….(look) in the mirror?

VÍ DỤ :
CÂU KHẲNG ĐỊNH :
I am a university student.

He is so handsome.

They go to school by bus.

He usually goes to the gym.

CÂU PHỦ ĐỊNH :

I am not a university student.

He isn’t handsome.

They don’t go to school by bus.

He doesn't usually go to the gym.

CÂU HỎI:

Am I a university student?

Is he handsome?

Do they go to school by bus ?

Does he usually go to the gym ?

THÊM S HOẶC ES

Một vài dấu hiệu:

 Các từ có đuôi O,S,X,Z,CH,SH thêm ES

( ôi song xưa zờ chẳng shóng)
Ví dụ : go – goes, watch – watches, miss – misses, wash – washes
 Tận cùng là y thì bỏ y chuyển thành ies
Ví dụ: study – studies, copy – copies
 Còn lại dễ vl thêm đuôi s thôi

Cách phát âm đuôi s/es:

  O S X Z CH SH thêm es đọc là /iz/ ngoại trừ GOES
Ví dụ: roses /rouziz/, dishes,..
 TH P K F T thêm s đọc là /s/
(Thời phong kiến phương Tây)
Ví dụ: baths, develops,…
 Còn lại thêm s thì đọc âm /z/
Ví dụ: cars, buildings, dogs,..
