LET’S START!
ART makes our world a better
place. It gives us colour and
beauty; it speaks to our
feelings; it makes us think. Art
is all around us! Art is in our
streets, in our homes and in
nature. Our lives are full of
wonderful creations and
fantastic works of art.

EARTH ART
The beauty of our planet is a great inspiration for artists!
Some artists paint nature while others use the things they
find in nature to create their artwork.
Pebbles
The different colours, shapes and
textures of pebbles can make
simple, yet beautiful pieces of art.
Some artists also add wood and
leaves to their pebble paintings.
The rough and smooth textures
of the natural things they use
produce a very interesting result.

Sand
How about creating a work of art while
enjoying the beach at the same time? The
Sand Sculpture Festival in Ostend, Belgium,
is the biggest sand sculpture festival in the
world! There are about 150 sand sculptures
created by 30 artists of 12 different
nationalities!
Sand sculptors use buckets, spades and
kitchen or garden tools! It’s a bit like
making a sandcastle when you are a child!
What a pity most sand sculptures get
washed away by the sea, but I’m sure
making them is great fun while it lasts!

The birds flew around happily. Their dear friend, the

dove, was all better and now their feathers were full of
amazing colours! The dove herself turned a pale white,
because all the colour came out of her. To this day, the
dove is a symbol of peace and love. But what about the
selfish crow? Well, even though that was a long time ago,
crows today are still only one colour, and that colour is
black!
