Textbook: Editura Uniscan, Limba modernă 2 Engleză

Unit 4: Me and the others

Lesson title: Talking about people’s jobs

Lesson type: introducing new vocabulary

Time allotted: 50 minutes

Objectives: By the end of the activity, the students will be able to:

Use the new vocabulary in real life situations;

Practice new words related to jobs in different contexts;

Answer questions based on a text they listen and read.

Develop all skills in connection to the topic.

Language Focus: The students will learn about vocabulary related to jobs;

Methods and strategies: conversation, communication, explanation, reading


aloud, listening, matching exercise, working with the textbook.
Predicted problems and possible solutions:

1. The reading text may contain unknown words for the students: the teacher
encourages them to listen for the meaning and the general message of the
text;
2. There are few students who have a lower English level – they will get
extra guidance from the teacher;

Materials: Blackboard and chalk, textbooks, flashcards, flip-chart, laptop,


digital board, video-projector.

1). Warm-up:
The teacher greets the students, checks the T-Ss
5’ attendance then asks students to listen to Dialogue Ss-T
The People Song and try to guess the topic Audio playing
of the new lesson. Then they have to brain
storm some of the jobs they already know
about/heard about and write them in their
notebooks.
2). Presentation:
Teacher informs the sudents that the new
10’ lesson is about „Jobs” and they write the Explanation T-Ss
title in their notebooks. Teacher shows Ss-T
different flashcards with different jobs and Ss-Ss
asks students to practice the key vocabulary
by repeating the new words. Then, students
try to say the words on their own. Once they
have practiced enough, teacher will move to
the next key word. For the next activity Guessing
children will have to close their eyes and try game
to guess which is the missing job from the Conversation
flip-chart.
3).Practice:
The next exercise is based on listening. Audio T-Ss
10’ Students have to listen carefully to Bob Playing Ss-T
talking about his family members. The Matching
students have to match Bob’s family exercise
members to their jobs.
Students are then asked to use the phrases in
ex.1/page 70 to make sentences about what Dialogue
each person does at his/her work. Ask-answer
They will also solve a matching exercise on questions
wordwall.

4).Production:
Students are asked to listen and then read a Explanation T-Ss
text from their textbook ‚Who’s your Ss-T
10’ favourite singer?’ and then create a similar
one about their favourite singer/actor. They Audio playing
will also have to complete the fact file in
their notebooks. The best text will get a
clapping hands.
The students will also work ex.6 from page
71 in their textbook.
5). Feedback:
7’ Teacher asks students to complete the Dialogue T-Ss
following sentence: My dream job Ss-T
is…./When I grow up, I want to be a/an……
1’ 6). Home assignment: Conversation T-Ss
Ex. 3/page 77.
2’ 7). Evaluation:
Teacher evaluates the level of satisfaction, Conversation T-Ss
participation and cooperation of the
students, then gives marks to some of them.
8).Up Sleeve Activity:
If there is any time left, the Ss will work T-Ss
ex.4/page 70.
