PHRASAL VERBS
Language tips
Phrasal Verbs have two parts: a verb
+ a partice.
Example:
The children were getting off the
bus.
(= The children were leaving the bus.)

2. get on/ get off = enter/ leave a bus, train, We should get on the bus. It’s
aircraft, or boat leaving in five minutes!
We got off the bust at the City

3. get in(to)/ out (of) = enter/ leave a car The lady got in the taxi first.
She got out of the car after
being done with shopping.
4. turn on/ off = make a machine start/ stop He always turns on the TV at 9
working o’clock.
It’s a sunny day. Turn the light
off!
5. turn up/ down = make the sound louder/ Turn the TV up. I can’t hear it.
