Wavence supports the UBT in Stand-Alone mode.
Stand-Alone (SA) mode means the UBT functions as a self “supporting” system
managing the data and control plane without the need for another device (e.g. MSS).
The following UBT variants support the SA mode:
• UBT-T
• UBT-S
• UBT-m

The picture shows the 2 configurations available with the Stand-Alone.
In Configuration 1 the SA is managed Out of Band through a connection to Port 1.
In Configuration 2 the SA is managed In band through the same port dedicated also
to the Ethernet traffic. This port is port 2.
The default Management VLAN is 4080.

• All frequencies are supported in Stand Alone mode.
• The same U B T for Split Mount Mode is used - no need to spare multiple U B T’s in a large
network, when both Split Mount and Stand Alone mode are used.
• In-band and local T M N with same management and N S P are supported.
• Optical S F P Data Plane is supported - Data plane supported with 1Giga or 10Giga Optical
S F P.
• U B T-T 2+0 Intra-L A G is Supported with X P I C.

U B T Stand Alone is supported by N S P 19.3 with the following feature set:

U B T Stand Alone supports the following topologies

In one station:
• UBTSA
• M S S-O + U B T S A
• M S S-1/4/8 + U B T S A

In the remote station:


• UBTSA
• UBTSA
• UBTSA

In this release is NOT SUPPORTED the station with U B T Split Mount and in the remote
station U B T Stand Alone.

M S S-O can be connected to the U B T in Stand Alone
The main use of this configuration is to deliver the P o E to the U B T (same as O P I injector).
Multiple interfaces are available.
The 2 units are separate N Es.
M S S-O will be managed through craft terminal (Java based) and U B T through WebCT.

• UBT-SA has only one IP address.
• The default IP address is
• 192.168.100.1
• This IP address is the IP address for:
• Local NE IP address
• Port #01 IP address for Out-of-Band Management (mask /24)
• Port #02 IP address for In-Band Management (mask /24)
• Port #01 does not have the DHCP Server

UBT-SA supports only Optical SFP’s for the data plane.
UBT-SA supports either 1G or 10G SFP.
