THE HERITAGE OF VIETNAM

Vietnam’s heritage dates back several centuries. They are vast, historical and vibrant. Vietnam also has
a rich history. Any country’s cultural and historical heritage is of utmost importance to them. Heritage
means the traditions; qualities and culture of a country that have existed for a long time and that have
great importance for the country.

Some of the world heritage sites of Vietnam are quite famous and are the kind of place tourists would
love to visit. There are 8 world heritage sites located in Vietnam. The most beautiful of them in my
opinion is the “Halong Bay”. It is famous because of its stunning limestone mountains, rising up from
emerald water that was formed thousands of years ago.

The area of Vietnam is around 331,690 km² and the population counts to 9.75 crores.

One of the most significant aspect of Vietnamese heritage is its vast and ancient history. The history of
Vietnam has been traced back to around 20,000 years ago. The ‘Hong Bang Dynasty’ was the first
dynasty. The first states were established on the Red River Delta. The last dynasty of Vietnam was
‘Ngyen’. Then finally in 1945 Vietnam proclaimed its independence.

Vietnam got its independence on 2 September, 1945. Ho Chi Minh declared the independence of
Vietnam from France. On 6 January 1946, the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam
designated Hanoi as the capital of the newly independent country.

One of the most prominent aspects of Vietnamese heritage is its diverse, colorful and distinctive culture.
The diversity and richness of Vietnamese culture are demonstrated by the Vietnamese traditional dance
forms. On holiday’s we can see ‘Lion Dance’ as well as ancient dances of Hmong and Cham. Vietnam’s
music includes both imperial and ceremonial music. The country’s traditional music, known as ‘Nhạc Cổ
Truyền’. It is a beautiful blend of melodic tunes and poetic lyrics that of the depict themes of love,
patriotism and nature.

Water puppetry and Chinese opera are the two most distinctive art of Vietnam. Vietnam is also famous
for its Lacquer ware, pottery and folk embroidery.

Vietnam is also known for its world famous ‘Pho Soup’. The national traditional dress in Vietnam is the
Ao Dai, a silk tunic with pants worn by women and men.

The national anthem of Vietnam is ‘Tien Quan Ca’ known in English is the "Marching Song", "Song of a
Marching Army" or "Song of Advancing Soldiers", is the national anthem of Vietnam, written and
composed by Van Cao in 1944. The national and official language of Vietnam is ‘Vietnamese’. It is spoken
natively by around 85 million people in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s natural wonder is vast consisting from epic waterfalls to the World’s Largest Caves. One thing
is for sure, Vietnam is country of enormous diversity. If you love nature, you will have countless natural
wonders to visit. When it comes to enjoying nature in Vietnam, the list is truly adventurous, exciting and
possibly endless.
