IF CLAUSE TYPE 2 (SECOND CONDITIONAL)

İngilizce’de hayal kurarken veya ŞU AN içinde
bulunduğumuz durumun tersine (MÜMKÜN
OLMAYACAK) bir şey söylerken bu yapıyı
kullanırız.
Bu yapı;
IF + simple past , would + Verb1 şeklindedir.
Yani, İf kelimesinin olduğu cümle geçmiş
zaman yapısı kullanılarak (anlam şimdiki
zaman olsa da), diğer cümle de özneden
sonra WOULD kalıbı kullanılarak
tamamlanır.

1.Cümle: Eğer zengin olsaydım, dünya turuna

çıkardım.
(Zaman olarak geçmiş zaman yapısı
kullanılmasının nedeni, şu an zengin olsaydım
dememize rağmen bu durumun şu anda gerçek
veya mümkün olmadığı bunun bir hayal
olduğundan dolayıdır.)
2.Cümle: Eğer bir işim olsaydı, dünyanın en
mutlu adamı olurdum.
(Bu sefer İFli kısım cümlenin ikinci tarafında
kullanılmış, ama yine simple past, yani geçmiş
zaman yapısı kullanılmıştır. Bunun nedeni,
eğer şu anda zengin olsaydım derken bu
durumun gerçek olmayışıdır.)
Bu yapıda geçmiş zaman kullanmamıza
rağmen anlam kesinlikle geçmişe değil,
günümüze veya geleceğe yöneliktir. Ayrıca
bu yapıda fiil olmadığı durumlarda ( yani
isim cümlelerinde) bütün öznelerle WERE
kullanılmalıdır.
