Prepared by: SWEDEN MARK L. RODRIGUEZ-English Club Adviser

On May 24, 2024, the senior students of STI College Puerto Princesa had an
unforgettable experience as they participated in an outdoor activity organized by the
school's Math, Science, English, and Physical Education Club. The event, which took
place at the serene ACM BM Beach located in San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City. The said
event served as the culminating activity of the academic year for the senior high school
students, aiming to combine fun, learning, and practical application of academic skills.

“Enjoy the great outdoors with fun and exciting activities!”

Preparation and Planning

The Clubs, led by the dynamic club advisers, began preparations months in advance. As
a part of this collaborative effort, the English Club has also prepared for this event. The
main objective was to create an immersive environment where students could practice
English in real-life situations, enhance their communication skills, and foster
camaraderie. The club members, comprising enthusiastic students from various strands,
meticulously planned activities that would be both educational and enjoyable.

Arrival and Orientation

On the day of the camp, students arrived at the campsite early in the morning so that
they could prepare the things they needed for all of the activities that they were tasked to
do. The activity began with a prayer and a brief orientation session conducted by the
club officers and teachers. Safety protocols, camp rules, and the itinerary were also
discussed to ensure a smooth experience. The students were then divided into teams,
encouraging inter-grade interaction and teamwork before they started their fun
activities.

Activities and Engagements

The camp featured a plethora of activities, each designed to challenge the students'
creativity and skills. The event started with a tent-making race. After that, the students
played the game called a Scavenger Hunt which required them to follow written clues
and solve puzzles. The activity was divided into three (3) stations with 3 games at every
station that served as the tasks that the students needed to accomplish. They can only
proceed to the next station whenever they were able to accomplish the 3 tasks at every
station. As for the English Club, the officers and adviser prepared 3 games for the
students to accomplish.

Highlights included:

1. Riddle: Students participated in a riddle activity that required them to answer 10

riddles before they could play to the next game at the first station. They needed to play
these 3 games at the first station before they can proceed to the next station. This
activity promoted teamwork and critical thinking while encouraging the practical use of
descriptive language.

2. The Whisper Race: The first player from each group reads the sentence in secret
and whispers it in the ear of the player sitting next to them. The first team to pass the
message down the line to the end player is the winner. At the end, the last player of the
team would recite it to the facilitator. This activity promoted teamwork and
memorization skills.

3. Charades: Everybody knows this game, and there's a reason why it's so popular.
Charades is a classic game night choice because it can get super silly and super fast. The
game requires the team's representative to stand up in front of everyone and act out a
book title, famous person, movie title, etc. This instantly breaks the ice and puts people
outside of their comfort zones. The winner would be the fastest to guess the term being
asked to guess.
Conclusion

The camp concluded with a closing ceremony, where outstanding participants were
recognized, and certificates of participation were awarded. The outdoor camp facilitated
by the Math, Science, English, and P.E Club was a resounding success. It provided a
holistic learning experience, blending education with recreation through the combined
efforts of everyone. The students returned home not only with learning but also with
cherished memories and a strengthened sense of community.
