Motivation

Hello class! Good Afternoon.

Good Afternoon, ma’am!
Before we start, may I request everyone to
please stand up and let us pray
(All the students stand and begin
praying.)
AMEN.
For your attendance class, who’s absent for
today?
None ma’am!
It is nice to hear that!

Before we proceed to our discussion.

(The teacher displays a PVC image, and
the students take turns expressing their
thoughts or describing what they observe in
the picture.) (students identify and describe the
pictures)
B. ANALYSIS
So class, based on the activity, what do you
think is our lesson for today?
Anyone? Ma’am about types of bends of rigid
non-metallic conduit
Very good!
Our topic is all about Types of bends of
rigid non-metallic conduit (PVC pipe)

So Class, what is Rigid Non—Metallic

Conduit?
Kindly read please? Ma’am!
Yes, you! Rigid Non-Metallic conduit is a type of
conduit made from non-metallic
materials, typically plastics like PVC
(polyvinyl chloride) or other durable
polymers. It is designed to protect and
route electrical wires, cables, and other
conductors in a safe and organized
manner.
Very good, Thank you!
PVC also known as polyvinyl chloride, is a
thermoplastic that is used in many
industries including construction.
PVC is made of plastic and helps conserve
energy.

Class, what’s your idea about PVC pipe? Ma’am PVC pipes that do not conduct
electricity and for coverings wire and
cable insulation.
Very Good!
Okay, so we dive to 4 types of PVC Bends
and their description;
1. ELBOW
2. OFFSET BEND
3. ROUND SADDLE
BEND
4. SQUARE SADDLE
BEND
Kindly read!
Ma’am Me!
Okay please!
 ELBOW- 90°
 Offset bend- is less than 90°
bend, it is used when the conduit
crosses an obstacle or when the
conduit is entering an electrical
box.
 Round saddle bend is used when
the conduit run across circular
objects like pipes
 Square saddle bend is similar to
round saddle; it is used when the
conduit run across rectangular
obstacles. Square saddle is just a
combination of two offset
Thank you! bends.
Okay, we proceed now to the ELBOW 90°
(PVC).
Purpose: To become familiar of 90° Bend
Elbow of PVC.
PROCEDURES:
Prepare the necessary tools, materials and
equipment’s.
1.Wear appropriate PPE. (goggles, gloves)
2. Draw the right angle on the floor using
your try square and chalk. This will serve as
your guide when performing your conduit
(PVC) into 90° angle. (A tile on the floor
can serve as a guide)
3. If you are in a room with a tiled floor,
you can use it as your guide for 90° angle.
4. Draw an arc near the corner with a radius
of 100 mm; this will aid you in forming
your elbow correctly.
5. Mark off 200 mm from the end of PVC
pipe. This will be the center of you elbow
bend.
6. Plug-in the heat gun and apply heat to the
conduit. Apply heat 100 mm on both sides
of your marking. Apply heat evenly by
turning over the conduit while swaying
your heat gun back and forth to avoid kinks
during bending.
7. Notice that when the conduit is softening,
it will sag as shown.
8. If the conduit is softening, turn off the
heat gun and bend the PVC to the desired
shape using your arc and 90° angle guide
drawn on the floor.
9.If the desired shape is formed, damp he
conduit with wet rug to harden it
immediately. (you can use your foot to hold
one end of the conduit while wiping.)
10. Perform housekeeping.

Next is OFFSET BEND.

Kindly read Mr./Mrs. OFFSET BEND
Purpose: To become familiar of offset
bend (PVC).
PROCEDURES:
1.Prepare the necessary tools, materials
and equipment’s.
2. Wear appropriate PPE.
3. Measure the elevation of the
obstruction. In this case, let’s use this
wooden box (NOTE: Remember, offset
bend is used if the conduit (PVC)
crosses an obstruction.
4. Draw the depth of elevation on the
floor as shown in the figure using your
try square and chalk. This will guide
you how high your offset bend would
be.
5. You should have two lines as shown
in the figure.
6. Mark off 100 mm from the end of
PVC pipe. This will be the center of the
first bend of the offset.
7. Put another mark of about 200 mm
from your first marker.
8. Plug-in the heat gun and apply heat
to the conduit. Apply heat between your
markers. Apply heat between your
markers. Apply heat evenly by turning
over the conduit while swaying your
heat gun back and forth to avoid kinks
during bending.
If the conduit is softening, turn off the
heat gun and bend the PVC to the
desired shape using your guide drawn
on the floor. Pull the left portion of the
conduit while pushing the other end.
9. If he desired shape is forms, damp
the conduit with wet rug to harden it
immediately. (You can use your foot to
hold one end of the conduit while
wiping.)
10. Your bend should look like this.
Thank you!
Are you with me? Yes Ma’am!
Okay if you really listen lets have recap.
C. Abstraction:
Let’s have a recap.
1. What are the 4 types of PVC Bends?
2. What is Degree of Elbow bend?
3. PVC also Known as?

D. Application:
I will divide you into 2 groups and follow the proper procedures for
measuring, marking, heating, and bending of PVC conduit to achieve accurate and precise
results.
Criteria Description
- Fairness: Groups are divided in a manner that ensures fairness and equal
distribution of skills and resources.
- Group Size: Groups are of appropriate size to facilitate effective collaboration
Group Division and supervision.
- Accuracy: Measurements are precise and aligned with required dimensions.
- Consistency: Measurement techniques are consistent throughout the process.
Measuring - Proper Tool Usage: Participants use appropriate measuring tools correctly.
- Clarity: Marks are clear and easily visible for accurate bending.
- Alignment: Marks are properly aligned with measurement points.
- Precision: Marks are made precisely at designated points based on
Marking measurements.
- Temperature Control: Heating equipment is set to appropriate temperature for
PVC bending.
- Uniform Heating: PVC is heated evenly to prevent uneven bending or damage.
Heating - Safety: Safety protocols are followed while heating PVC.
- Angle Accuracy: Bends achieve desired angles as specified.
- Smoothness: Bends are smooth without kinks or deformities.
Bending - Consistency: Consistent bending techniques are used across all conduit pieces.
- Efficiency: Task completion within a reasonable timeframe.
- Collaboration: Effective teamwork and communication within the group.
Overall - Adherence to Instructions: Following all steps and procedures outlined
Performance accurately.
