Whereas, The security oI UNC Charlotte students is oI upmost priority to creating an environment condusive to learning and is a key Iactor attributing to academic success; Whereas, An improved sense oI security will allow students to Ieel more comIortable walking within the boundaries oI UNC Charlotte. Whereas, protection oI assests is essential to both students, Iaculty, and the university as a whole Whereas, parking lots and university buildings are areas subject to theIt, vandalism, destruction oI property Whereas, Installation oI cameras would allow university police to protect and serve in a more eIIicient manner. Whereas, ChieI oI Police JeII Baker has soundly voiced his support Ior the need to act upon a security camera initiative in his address to the Senate

SECTION I: The Student Senate requests security cameras be installed in parking lots and campus buildings.
SECTION II: The Student Senate requests a philosophy addressing the areas oI security Ior students, protection oI assets, and enIorcement be drawn up to provide strategy Ior implementation oI cameras into areas around the UNC Charlotte campus.
