Learner journals are great tools for both
Learner journal learners and teachers. They help you to
record your thoughts and learning points
and go back and reflect on them with the
benefit of time and experience.

You can use a copy book and pen, notes in

your mobile or record voice voice.
Organise yourself in any way that works for
you. Please record how much time this
takes you to do.

Learner journal need to be honest and

should include what you felt went wrong as
well as your success and your
understanding of why you think something
worked.

the elements of inclusive

practices. marks
Let’s do some self reflection and
identify areas we need to
develop.
Give yourself a score one a scale
of 1-4 for each element
(a-i); then type your score for each
statement in the text box...
for example: a = 3, b= 2
The scores are explained on the
next slide... 9
There a 4 stages of development/Self Review in CPD

2 = Understanding - you know what the professional practice

means and why it's important

3 = Engagement - you feel that you demonstrate competency in

this professional practice at work

4 = Integration - you demonstrate a high level of competency in

1>2>3>4
It is important to recognise and value diversity in learners and to use
pedagogical strategies that encourage an inclusive and supportive learning
environment because inclusion is a basic right of everyone; it should make
everyone feel included and supported, whichever environment they are in.
Everyone should have equal access to the material being delivered and have an
equal chance of achieving the objectives, regardless of their circumstance.

Stages 3 and 4 will be developed the more you learn about and practice
inclusive practices.
