II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

"Upcycle Wear: Transforming Old Pants into Stylish Tote Bags" is a community-based initiative
launched by CWTS101_A2 during the 4th Quarter AY 2023-2024. The project aims to address textile waste
by upcycling old pants into fashionable and reusable tote bags in Pandacan, Manila. Through workshops
and community engagement, the project will focus on promoting sustainable fashion and reducing
environmental impact.

III. PROJECT RATIONALE

The rationale for "Upcycle Wear" stems from the urgent need to address the increasing textile waste
problem. Pandacan, Manila, faces challenges related to the disposal of old clothing, leading to
environmental degradation. This project seeks to create a positive impact by introducing sustainable
practices that empower the local community. By transforming old pants into useful tote bags, the project
aims to establish a model for responsible waste management and environmental consciousness.

IV. PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

1. Local Community: Residents will benefit from access to eco-friendly tote bags, promoting
sustainable living.
2. Participants: Individuals will gain skills in textile upcycling and fashion design, potentially providing
new economic opportunities.
3. End-users: Consumers will benefit from unique and sustainable products created from recycled
pants, contributing to an eco-friendly lifestyle.

V. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
1. Establish a Workshop: Set up a central facility in Pandacan, Manila, equipped with basic tools and
materials for the efficient transformation of old pants into tote bags.
2. Promote Environmental Awareness and Community Engagement: Conduct awareness
campaigns and educational programs to actively involve the community in textile upcycling efforts.
