elm tree Colliery ( also known as Middle Engine nether region ) is a disused coal mine in
Nailsea within the English language County of somersaulting .It has been scheduled as an
antediluvian monument and placed on the Heritage at Risk Register due to the risk of
hooliganism and further decay .Nailsea 's too soon thriftiness relied on coal mining , which
began as early as the 16th hundred .The earliest recorded date for coal mining in Nailsea
was 1507 when ember was being transported to light fires at Yatton .By the later 1700s the
Golden valley region of the townspeople had a large identification number of Inferno run by
a consortium by Saint Peter Cox , Joseph Whitchurch and Isaac White which was formed in
1786 and known as Caucasian and Co. John Robert George Lucas joined to prevail ember for
the nearby Nailsea Glassworks .remains of the old pitfall , most of which had closed down by
the previous nineteenth C as mining capital migrated to the richer wrinkle of South Cymru ,
are still visible around the township .Three buildings survive from the Elms Colliery .The
railway locomotive planetary house of the rotative beam engine and associated
construction , including the remains of a cavalry whim and weighbridge house are form II
listed buildings .The H2O tank above the engine house was used to cater water to Elms
