Accuracy:
With IDMT/Definite time delay the expecting operating time is typically with in ± 5%
For instantaneous fault Measured Time ≤ 35 ms for 60 Hz
Assign three different led to give phase segregated trip information TripA,B&C
Assumption Is1= 0.2pu, K1=30% , Is2= 2.0 pu & ensure Ibias < IS2
Make sure that the relay is on loopback mode by
1. Setting cell (0f12 Test loopback) to External and applying either loopback fiber on the
relay or loopback is selected on the P590
2. Alternatively setting cell (0f12 Test loopback) to External
Give bias current Ia = 1.0 p.u (according to relay rated current ) thus the relay will trip with
phase A
When Current in A is established slowly increase the current in the B phase from zero until
phase B trips
Record the phase B current value and check that is corresponds to the

Repeat the above test with Bias current set in the A phase to be 3 PU
Give bias current Ia = 3.0 p.u (according to relay rated current ) thus the relay will trip with
phase A
When Current in A is established slowly increase the current in the B phase from zero until
phase B trips
