(j) False.

Solution of the Question No. 3

(a)
Let the A, B and C denote the sets of people who like products A, B, C respectively.
The given data means
n(A)=7420, n(B)=6230, n(C)=5980
n(A ∩ B) =2580, n(A ∩ C) =1200, n(B ∩ C) =1950
and n(A∩B∩C) =1500, and n(AUBUC) =20000
We also know that
n(AUBUC) = n(A) + n(B) + n(C) - n(A ∩ B) - n(A ∩ C) - n(B ∩ C) + n(A∩B∩C)
= 7020+6230+5980-2580-1200-1950+1500
= 15000 ≠ 20000
This shows that the data is not consistent.

Solution of the Question No. 6

(i) (C) Arithmetic mean
(ii) (A) 3.5 (S. D= (87.5x4)/100=3.5)
(iii) (D) 0.8
(Explanation: Let P(E) is the probability of winning the game, and P (not E) be the
probability of not winning the game.
P(E) + P(not E) = 1
So, P(not E) = 1 - P(E)
Since P(E) = 0.2
P(not E) = 1 - 0.2
P(not E) = 0.8)
(iV) (b) 1/13
(Explanation: We have, n (S) = 52
There are 4 aces in a deck of card, so the probability of drawing an ace from a deck of card
is: 4/52 = 1/13)
(V) (A) 1/25
(Explanation: We have the set of 100 natural numbers
There are four perfect cubes from the first 100 natural numbers that are = 1, 8, 27, and 64
So, the probability of selecting a perfect cube is = 4/100 or 1/25)
(Vi) A. must also be positive
(vii) C. The strength of the relationship between the x and y variables
(viii) B. the regression model.
(iX) A. Null Hypothesis
(x) D. All of the above

Solution of the Question No. 7

(a) False.
(b) True.
(c) True.
(d) False.
(e) False.
(f) False.
(g) False.
(h) True.
(i) False. (Since the experiment is without replacement, the trials are not independent. For
example, if the first four cards are all Jacks, then the probability that the fifth is a Jack is 0
not 0.25).
(j) True.
