NARRATIVE REPORT FOR BRIGADA ESKWELA 2023

The school is an institution which is responsible in molding the learners into a responsible individual in the
society. This is where one is crafted into a better person, who will be an emblem of the kind of learning center
where be was raised.

Dr. Maria Eleny S. Aquino, School Head, distributed information to us ahead of time and laid out a system-
atic plan on how to carry out the program. Mrs. Leonora R. Juarez was assigned as the Chairman, with Mrs. Prin-
cess Ayra M. Baldemora as co-chairman and the faculty as team members.

The multifarious concern of school demands working with others to accomplish designed tasks and objec-
tives. These would need dedicated school personnel, cooperative parents, accountable community and innovative
learners.

DepEd Memorandum No. 21, s. 2023 otherwise known as 2023 Brigada Eskwela Implementing Guidelines
or commonly called Brigada Eskwela, aims to prepare the school before its formal opening of classes.
The said activity was disseminated on the second week of August through the school head. Thus the group came
up with the decision to have schedules to help for the duration of the week – long implementation of the program.
Every tasks was disseminated to all teachers as well as different members of the community, 4Ps’, Tau Gamma
Phi, Kababaihan, Sangguniang Barangay ng Maytalang I, 1 – Tabakkk, Samahan ng kabataan ng Maytalang 1, par-
ents and pupils of the school and other stake holders.

From August 14 to 19, 2023, the annual Brigada Eskwela Program with the theme "Bayanihan Para Sa Mata-
tag Paaralan" was implemented in preparation for the start of classes. As specified in DepEd Memorandum No. 21,
sec. The goal of this program focuses on collaborating and expanding partnership engagements that complement
DepEd efforts to achieve the Basic Education Learning Continuity and guarantee the delivery of quality basic edu-
cation by 2023.

On August 14, 2023, at 7:00 a.m., a vibrant procession was held to kick off the day's events, showcasing the
togetherness of the Maytalang community and other stakeholders. The sound of the motorcycle's horn and peo-
ple's laughter piques people's attention, and as time passes, the number of participants grows as we stroll along the
road together. The parade was followed by an opening program in which the faculty and staff of Maytalang I Ele-
mentary School, members of the community, 4Ps, Sangguniang Barangay ng Maytalang I, Tau Gamma Phi, GPTA
Officers, 1-Tabakkk Guardians Brethen, Inc., parents, and other individual stake holders participated.

The ceremony began with an invocation delivered by Mrs. Baby Maricar D. De Chavez, Grade 5 teacher,
and was followed by our National Anthem led by Mrs. Gemma J. De Leon, Grade II teacher. Dr. Maria Eleny S.
Aquino, our School Head, welcomed all participants and issued a challenge to all of us, saying that "we do things
best when we do them together" and that everything we are doing right now is for the benefit of the students this
coming school year. Kap. Ruben D. Ubatay, 4ps representative, Tau Gamma Phi alumni, M1ES and 1 Tabakkk
both shared motivational messages.

On the second day, our devotion grew even stronger as volunteers, including parents and students, joined
us. The teamwork was motivating as we examined our surrounds to choose which areas to focus on and how to
make the short time productive through constant work. ALAB Movement, founded in July 2022, is a youth-led
recognized NGO situated in Lumban, Laguna. Their goal is to donate needed equipment to schools throughout the
brigada season. They are an inspiration to our younger generation because of their generous hearts and desire. Vol-
unteers showed their commitment by methodically removing distractions from classroom walls and fixing and re-
painting arm chairs. We kept the schools clean by tidying the classrooms and the school grounds. As the day came
to a close, we recognized and acknowledged each participant, recognizing their critical role in the process.
Witnessing the true essence of this event: assisting one another, cooperating, a spirit of volunteerism, and
charitable giving. Because we all believe in the same thing, clean classrooms, well-maintained learning materials,
and appealing landscape encourage students to come to school, work hard, and persevere in order to achieve their
goals.

Believing that the community cannot stand without the school, and likewise the school without the commu-
nity, we greatly believed that the school is the face of the barangay. Thus all the people in the community even
those whose children were not studying in the school, gave a hard and volunteered to support the program.
Therefore, the teachers are very much indebted to the barangay folks for without them, the following would not
have been made possible.
• Cleaning of the school grounds
• Pruning/trimming of trees around the school
• Fixing of Garbage disposal
• Repairing of classroom
• Repair of dilapidated chairs
• Cleaning of classrooms
Rehabilitation of school office
Funds were procured through donation from stake holders, office of the Mayor and Vice-Mayor, LSD/SEF Fund.
With their unselfish cooperation and invaluable support of the barangay people, the Brigada Eskwela in Maytalang
I Elementary School turned out to be a successful one.
