THE COUNTERTERRORISM GROUP INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (REMOTE)

Description

The mission of the Counterterrorism Group (CTG) is to protect individuals, organizations,


personnel, and places against acts of terrorism. CTG professionals develop customized
services and solutions that help deter, detect, and defeat terrorism. CTG is looking for a select
group of individuals to become Counterterrorism Intelligence Analysts Interns. Interns assess
foreign and domestic terrorist groups as well as lone-wolf terrorists to identify specific threats,
warn of and preempt attacks, disrupt their networks, and eventually defeat terrorist
organizations or individuals focused on committing an act of terrorism. Interns are expected
to work remotely a minimum of 15 hours per week with weekly check-ins.

Responsibilities

As a Counterterrorism Intelligence Analyst Intern, you will analyze large amounts of


information and conduct investigations to gain an understanding of the issues and evolving
situations to produce a range of intelligence products. You will also work as a world-watch
officer analyzing and collecting data on daily terrorist events around the world. Being able to
develop knowledge about the intentions, motivations, capabilities, plans, recruitment
techniques, and leaders of terrorist organizations or individual terrorists is critical.​This
internship is ideal for candidates who are looking to gain valuable counterterrorism and
analysis experience to become competitive candidates for the U.S. Intelligence Community.
Interns must be passionate and dedicated about the work of counterterrorism and believe
that one-day terrorism can be stopped and want to work towards finding the solution. This
internship is only for those who are serious about this work.

INTELLIGENCE ANALYST INTERN

RESPONSIBILITIES:

WATCH OFFICER/GSOC (Global Security
Operations Center) ANALYST INTERN
The Counterterrorism Group (CTG) is seeking Watch Officer/GSOC Analyst Interns to work as a
member of our Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) Team. The Watch Officer/GSOC Analyst
Intern will work with a dedicated team to provide tactical and operational intelligence on a
24/7/365 basis taking action at the right moment to ensure the up to date reporting and initial
analysis of global threats to ensure relevant stakeholders have accurate information and
actionable intelligence to make critical decisions and manage/mitigate any crisis situations that
may impact them.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and analyze global events to identify and assess threats
Identify and assess threats based on specifications, including the client’s international
operations, assets, and personnel
Monitor, track, report, and take appropriate actions on critical global incidents
Utilize several open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools and data platforms to gather information
to analyze, process, and produce actionable intelligence
Assist with the production of specific briefings or presentations
Support location-specific intelligence, including active and archived alerts; city and country
intelligence; and interactive maps
Provide notifications of threats based on geographies
Support the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) Team and Watch Officer Manager
(WOM) with all initiatives
As necessary, assist the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) Team with ensuring the
safety and security of the client’s employees, offices, and assets
Report directly to the Daily Threat Activity Report (DTAR) Manager for the day and the DTAR
Team Lead (TL) and WATCH Officer Manager (WOM) as needed
Work nights, weekends, and holidays (15 hours a week total)
Other duties as assigned

INTELLIGENCE ANALYST EDITOR
INTERN
CTG’s Intelligence Editor will work on the various Intelligence teams responsible for producing
timely and actionable intelligence to meet our mission. We are looking for editors who can
quickly develop an understanding of the intelligence cycle, analytical tools, and critical issues

and threats that CTG focuses on. We are looking for a creative and critical thinker who is

collaborative and able to work in a flexible, adaptable, demanding environment that encourages
innovation and new ideas. You will become the guardians of the intelligence cycle!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draft, review, and edit reports focused on terrorism, crimes, and various threats to ensure
proper visuals are utilized and that written analysis meets CTG’s standard and is written at the
highest level before publication.
Edit and review analytical and other reports to ensure clear communication to both expert
and non-expert audiences within the fields of organizational security, intelligence, national
security, homeland security, law enforcement, and military for a wide range of agencies,
organizations, and companies around the world.
Evaluate data and visuals to ensure information is presented effectively to various audiences.
Draft and update editorial resources to ensure a high level of writing and analysis among the
Research and Development team.
Review reports for grammar, style, and effective communication.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

COUNTERTERRORISM SPECIALIST
INTERN

The Counterterrorism Group (CTG) Technical Development Team is looking for creative and
innovative Interns to work on solutions that fight against terrorism and various global threats.
Interns are expected to work remotely a minimum of 15 hours per week with weekly check-ins.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Video Editor Intern: assist in the production, and editing digital stories and other information.
Ideal candidate would have experience with video editing software, and have an attention to
detail.

GIS Developer Intern: use geographical information systems and global positioning systems to
provide analysis to teams and projects across the CTG. Interns will have the opportunity to
work with data visualization, conduct spatial analysis, and manage GIS datasets to produce
cartographic projects and reports. Interns will also work closely with the CTG elements to
provide data collection support.

Web Development Intern: assist in updating and developing the CTG internal and external web
sites, content management for our websites, assisting with development and design of Web
Applications, assisting with online marketing - LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social media
platforms. Assisting with online Database Applications. CTG seeks dynamic Interns to support
key web development and business initiatives, and growth. We are also looking for the creative
and passionate intern to step in and make an impact from day one. The Intern experience will
be designed to provide opportunities to work directly with the full CTG team on various
potential projects.

Data Analyst Intern: work to build key insights from the research and analysis of the CTG
Teams. Interns will have the opportunity to work within CTG cloud infrastructure, where they
will analyze data for the intended use of predicting and deterring terror attacks. Interns will
also be involved in the CTG data collection practices, working with teams across the world to
find the optimal data in defeating terrorism. Interns should have familiarity with relational
database management, machine learning, data mining, and data visualization.

The internship is unpaid. Applications will be accepted on a rolling

month of July. The internship training will start on August 1, 2024 and
run through December 31, 2024 with the possibility to extend.
