Set up :
Press and hold power button until display shows. You will see a welcome screen showing the firmware
version followed by “Initialising Camera - Please wait…….”. You will see the camera turn on briefly
and then off again.

The display will settle on home screen.

Note:
The display will automatically switch off after 1 minute
of inactivity – press the select button to wake display.

Home Screen shows battery voltage, current time as set on trap, triggers count, PIR sensor state (off /
extend / trigger), timing windows (W1 and W2)

To enter the main menu from home screen, press

SELECT / ENTER button.
(Menu item in CAPITALS is the current choice).
Use the SELECT button to choose and up/down arrows
to navigate through menu options.

Note:
Main menu will exit to home screen after 15 seconds of
inactivity.
• EXIT MENU – to return to home screen

• RESET COUNT - to reset counter to zero.

• RECORDING WINDOW - Choose which recording window you want using the arrows - press
SELECT to adjust timings. Set window times using arrows and SELECT button. Choose to turn the
window on or off

If both windows are turned off, trap will function with

no time restrictions
Window state is shown on front screen as either:

‘OFF‘= window function is inactive

‘OUT’ = window function is active but current time is
outside the recording window
‘IN’ = current time is inside an active recording window

Two separate window periods can be set but if the

windows overlap, a warning will show and window 2 will reset to zero. Trap will obey active window.

• RECORD DURATION - Press SELECT and use arrows to adjust record duration between 10 secs and
12 minutes.

• PIR SETTING – PIR sensor works by detecting movement of emitted heat, usually from a body.
Press SELECT and use arrows to toggle through 3 PIR states.

1 - PIR off - PIR sensor has no function and is ignored

2 - PIR extend - this will extend a timed recording
(started by an external trigger) beyond a set duration for
as long as the sensor detects motion
3 - PIR trigger - the sensor will trigger the camera and
can be used in conjunction with external triggers.

On the newer Mk2 Cubes you will find additional menu

options for adjusting PIR sensitivity and delay.

• SET TIME - Trap clock needs to be set to your local time in order to use the recording windows
feature

• SET DATE.- This will be used for future features

• ARMING DELAY - By default, the trap is always armed. The arming delay function can be used to
prevent unnecessary recordings during set up.

Press SELECT and use arrows to adjust delay up to 30

minutes, then press select again before toggling (with
arrows) between on or off state
When you exit the main menu a countdown will display
remaining delay time. During this period any incoming
triggers will be ignored
Press ‘select’ to cancel this function.

PAIRING PROCEDURE

Follow instructions for beam break / PIR trigger / remote control to get them ready to pair.
Pair 1 trigger to 1 trap at a time.

Once pairing has been selected on trigger device press the ‘pairing’ button on the trap
trap.
Screen will display UID for the trigger and will indicate whether pairing was success or
fail. It will also indicate if the trigger is already paired to that trap.

Each trap can be paired with up to 5 separate triggers at one time. This works on a first
in, first out basis.

For example: If you try to add a sixth trigger, number one will become unpaired

CAMERA

To set up the camera, turn it on by pressing the ‘C’ button. (Note - trap must be awake with display on
for camera controls to work)

Follow Sony instructions for RX0ii for detailed camera settings using buttons around screen.

IMPORTANT Camera must be set to ‘video mode’ to ensure correct operation

BATTERIES

The Cube battery pack is a 3.7V 10 Ah pack with built-in safety features. Under normal operating
conditions the trap can remain in standby for in excess of 1 year on a full charge
A fully charged pack gives approximately 10 hours of recording time.
To charge the pack, remove from the Cube by pulling firmly upwards. The pack is held in by magnets.
A USB C socket is located in the recess at the top of the battery pack. A charge indicator LED is situated
next to the socket. Plug in a good quality USB C charging cable and connect to a USB charger, most will
work.
The LED will remain red until battery is fully charged when it will turn green.
The voltage readout on trap display will show 4.1 - 4.2V when fully charged.

The camera may stop working once the voltage drops below 3.4 V

AUDIO
Some cubes are fitted with an external microphone socket. This socket is O-ring sealed when a mic is
fitted. If no mic is fitted, ensure rubber sealing cap is inserted to maintain seal.
The ETM001 mic supplied by Meta films is very sensitive - adjust audio input level on camera
accordingly.

EXTERNAL FILTERS
The front of the Cube housing has 37mm screw thread to allow the fitting of filters.
This camera has a fixed F4 aperture therefore auto ISO is the main method of controlling exposure.
We recommend the URTH variable ND 2-400 to control exposure range, particularly if shooting S-LOG
2 in bright conditions as this has a minimum ISO value of 1000.
