3. Why did you choose this course (BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering with
International Foundation Year)?
Ans:. I am driven to pursue the BSc in International Business Management due to my passion
for understanding the intricate dynamics of engineering and my desire to develop the necessary
skills to navigate the complexities of this field effectively.
Pursuing a BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree with an International Foundation Year
offers a comprehensive pathway to develop a strong foundation in engineering principles and
practical skills. The foundation year bridges the gap between prior education and the rigorous
requirements of an undergraduate engineering program, and it will equip me with essential
knowledge in mathematics, physics, and English language proficiency. It fosters the
development of crucial academic and study skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving,
and effective communication, while providing exposure to introductory engineering concepts
through hands-on laboratory sessions and project-based learning. This immersive experience in
an international environment nurtures a global perspective and intercultural understanding,
invaluable assets in today's interconnected engineering industry.
What skills will you learn/ gather after completing this course?
Ans: In this Course I will learn –
Writing English for academic purposes
Presenting and communicating
Study skills such as note-taking, researching, and referencing.
Core Modules
1. Engineering Mathematics
2. Engineering Materials and Electrical Systems
3. Engineering Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics
4. Project and Risk Management
5. Engineering Structures and Engineering Dynamics
6. Manufacturing and Mechanical Group Design
In Year two, I will be studying:
1. Engineering Mathematics
2. Engineering Dynamics and Control Engineering
3. Engineering Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics
4. Manufacturing
5. Structural Mechanics
6. Mechanical Group Design
Ans: Firstly, the University of Salford has established itself as a leading institution for business
education, renowned for its cutting-edge curricula and highly qualified faculty members. The
university's long-standing relationships with industry leaders and professional bodies ensure
that the program remains relevant and aligned with the latest trends and best practices in the
global business landscape.
Another compelling aspect of studying at the University of Salford is its diverse and
international student community. The opportunity to collaborate with peers from various
cultural backgrounds will broaden my perspectives and enhance my cross-cultural

leading businesses and organizations open up a wealth of networking opportunities and
potential career pathways. These connections can facilitate valuable internships, industry
projects, and potential employment opportunities upon graduation, providing a seamless
transition from academia to the professional world.
9. What other universities do you consider in the UK, including course and
fees?
Ans: I considered University of Portsmouth and for the course of
International Foundation Program with Engineering , they are providing
this course for 17200 pound and their course modules are not satisfactory
for me , whereas University of salford is offering this course for only 14500
pound and they have some distinguished modules in their course like
Engineering Mathematics, Project and Risk Management are some
modules which are not available in their course module .So I decided not go
for this university. .
10. Why did you decide to study in the UK?
Ans: I like to mention here that UK is the land of global standard education system.
The secure student lifestyle, affordable tuition fee, weather, high quality education
and many historic universities of the UK is a great choice for any student from any
corner of the world.
It will take only 3 year to complete my bachelor degree in the UK, in comparison it
will take 4 years in the USA. UK also has rich Diversity of culture, and they warmly
welcome foreign students.
Lastly, a degree from the UK is highly recognized and prioritized in my country.
Considering all of the factors I have decided on the UK for my higher education. UK
Universities have centuries of old history in Britain. 16% of the world's top 100
universities are in the UK according to the QS World University ranking. UK
degrees are recognized and respected world-wide.
11. Which other country did you research and why the UK was a better
choicefor you? Why not CANADA, USA,and Australia?
Ans: Well, before applying to the UK I have also considered Canada and The
USA for my further study however due to some issues I had to drop them from
my bucket list and I would like to point out some reasons below.
Canada - Canada Usually takes the tuition fees comparatively double. For a
bachelors degree I have to pay CA$ 37397 – CA$ 40747 and also the living
cost is skyscraper. The major problem is Canada’s weather which is freezing
cold all of the time. Furthermore, the health care system in Canada is very
costly. Most disappointing part is Canada visa processing time is longer and
sometimes it takes over 6 months to get a decision.
America - In USA the cost of education fees slowly rising every year. Each
state follows a different curriculum of courses creating students of varying
standards of education. The USA takes 4 years to complete a bachelor’s degree
where UK offers 3 year bachelor course. The USA takes the tuition fees
too much higher compared to The UK. In USA,I have to pay 26000 GBP –
31000 GBP nearly where in the UK the fees are rather affordable as well as the
living cost also.
In the short term, I plan to actively apply for entry-level Mechanical Engineer positions at
leading automotive manufacturers or aerospace firms. During the job search process, I will
leverage the knowledge and skills I have acquired throughout my degree, highlighting my
strong foundation in areas such as mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and design
principles. Additionally, I will emphasize the hands-on experience I gained through internships,
projects, and laboratory sessions, which have honed my practical abilities in areas like
computer-aided design (CAD), simulation software, and prototype development.
