 Computer is a useful machine.

 It can do many things. We can learn, play games, listen to music,

watch movies, play games on a computer. We can also type documents

(stories, poems, worksheets). We can use Internet to chat with our

family members or send emails.

 How to Switch On a computer?

Check the
switch.

 Why do we use computers?

1. Speed – Computers are fast in doing work.

2. Accuracy – Computers give correct results.

 CHAPTER 2 Do’s and Don’ts while using computer

 Keep the Computer neat and clean.

 Use the computer very gently. Touch the mouse buttons and keyboard
softly.
 While working on the computer, sit straight in the chair.
 Use your chair carefully, so that you can use it for a longer period.
 While working on the computer, be sensitive to the needs of others.
Wait for your turn and help others.
 If you have any problem, contact your teacher.

 Computer parts are connected to each other by wires. Do not touch the
wires. They may get unplugged and computer may stop working. Also it is
not safe to touch electric wires.
 Do not bang any part of the computer.
 Do not snatch the mouse or the keyboard from others.
 Do not twist the monitor for any reason.
 Do not ask your friends to fix the problems related to your computer.

 Chapter 3 Working with Tux paint

Search for this icon on the desktop. It is a short cut to open Tux

paint program. After we double click on the icon, Tux paint window opens as

shown below:

Once the program opens, the window appears with Tools, Colors and Brushes
as shown below:

Ready!

Tools: provide us various options which help us to draw or color.

Brushes: Paint tool has various brushes with various sizes and shapes under

it.

Colors: provide us with a many colors that can be used for coloring.
