My science teacher once said "I do not believe that all human beings just spawned on this planet", as a
Muslim I simply could not accept this in any form, and so every day I and my teacher used to have a
mini-debate game over this topic, he would have argued with me all day long about this belief. One day,
however, I opened my mind and I let his words reach me, when I heard everything that my teacher
presented to back up his belief, my perception of it changed. This theory became more of a reflection of
me and my beliefs. Instead of disgracing my teacher's belief, I supported it.

When I was a 10th grader I was diagnosed with Hemoptysis, I started coughing out blood, and no I did
not smoke. My condition affected my life from both social and academic sides; it also prevented me
from performing athletics which I was enjoying the most at that time. However, with the help of my
family, counselors, doctors, and my hard work I was able to cure my illness and make several long-
lasting experiences, and academic and extracurricular achievements in the same year. Sure, I have a
long way to go, but I have made a big progress and I consider this progress to be one of the biggest
accomplishments of my life. And as I stand now fully recovered, I sort of feel bad for other people who
are experiencing this pain every day. This feeling led me to enroll in a volunteering program that is
designed to help disabled people; I and other volunteers often visited these people to help them in any
way possible, the greatest reward we had back then was the smiles on their faces. These experiences
taught me a lesson, how it’s important to give back what you’ve gotten. At university, I hope to share my
perspectives with others and take theirs into account as well, so that eventually we can create an even
stronger society which everyone will crave for.

I consider myself as a multipotential person. I always crave something and in most cases, this something
is out of my reach. So I learned to create things and stuff I and other like-minded individuals craved for, I
made others feel included and comfortable in most uncomfortable environments. Because of this, I
started liking changing atmospheres wherever I went. I believe that the idea of including diversity in
public places is very crucial because, in most of these public places, people are often muted by society.
People choose what is acceptable and what is not, we choose to not consider the opinions of those who
are different. I respect United States universities' dedication to diversity, I believe that by providing
diversity we can break those barriers and untie the mouths of those muted ones.

I might not be very talkative, but the truth is I crave society, everyone does. Once I felt like helping out
for others, I wanted to become a part of a strong community that reaches out to others. Over the past
few years, I have volunteered with several community organizations. The invaluable experiences I
gained there allowed me not only to witness the satisfaction that comes from helping others but also to
play an active role in improving my community. In our volunteer meetings, we often had discussions on
how to strengthen our community and engage others in participating in it; some of our suggestions
were implemented. Through these experiences, I have gained invaluable knowledge and skills that will
further help me to meaningfully connect with your university’s community and to make outstanding
changes that will help others.
