Agriculture, Geography, History, Business Studies and Bible Knowledge. Students in Forms 1 and 2

Our classes normally start at 07.30 and end at 13.50. We have our first break at 09.30 and we
go for the second break at 11.40. During break time we usually play different games and chat. Some
of us may go to the library to borrow books.
The school has many additional activities such as sports games like soccer and netball.
Students also have different clubs and groups. Some of these are the Writers Club, Science Club and
Wildlife Club. You know what students do in these clubs!
We usually finish classes at 13.50 and most of us walk for few minutes to our homes. Of
course, most of us live not very far from our school but some, however, live far from school. When
we arrive at home, we change our school uniforms before taking lunch. We rest for some few hours
so that we start reading our books and write exercises.
After study we usually go and join our friends playing different games. Here in Malawi boys

It was eight o’clock in the evening. I arrived at Heathrow Airport with my family a few
minutes ago and we were very tired after the long flight. We then went to a hotel in London and spent
a couple of days before decided to travel to Dublin. some friends of ours told us to get a taxi to our
hotel, so we went to look for one. The airport was very bright and modern, but when we came out, we
found we were in a dark area of car parks and bus stations. We didn’t see that taxi space anywhere, so
we asked an old man. However, he didn’t speak English. Suddenly a big, friendly man came up to us
and said, “Give me your cases. I’ll take them to the taxi space for you.” I told him our cases were not
heavy and we could take them, too. But he just picked up my wife’s case and told us to follow him.

33
When we reached the taxi space, he put the cases down and asked me to give hime ten
pounds. I was very surprised. Ten pounds seemed very funny for just walking a hundred yards with
one not very heavy case. But I was too tired and I didn’t want to argue. I took out my wallet.
However, I only had a fifty-pound note and I told him so. He said, “No problem. Give me the note
and I will ask a taxi driver the change it for you.” He took my note and disappeared round the corner.
And of course, he never came back.

quickly that although in many ways it appears unchanged, in reality hardly anything is the same. All
the pretty cottages are there, of course, and both the picturesque farmhouses. But none of the
inhabitants are country people. All of them are commuters, who leave early every morning for the
nearby town. Neither of the farmhouses is attached to a farm these days; the land has been sold and is

managed by somebody in an office somewhere who has little interest in the village itself. There are a
few new houses, but they have no local character; you can see the same style anywhere in the
country. The whole of the village, in fact, has been tidied up so much that it has become nothing more
