What does the school say?
Achievements from the past school year

The school was the second top independent school for GCSE results
in the 2023 Sunday Times Parent Power guide. Other successes
include launching a pioneering engineering course with Brown
University, in the US; beginning a climate change education
programme; and pupils in the joint City of London School team for
iGem (international Genetic Engineering Machine, a synthetic biology
research competition) presenting at a university-level event in Paris.

Extracurricular activities

There are more than 100 cocurricular teams and societies and
students continue to add to this number, latterly a neurodiversity
club and an economics club. Other popular activities include social
action, the Afro-Caribbean society, Lego club, rock band, cricket,
debating and radical artists club. The school works with industry
partners such as Mace, Linklaters and Schroders to run webinars,
workshops and courses for pupils, who can gain work experience.
There are almost daily trips to museums, conferences and theatres.

What is your pastoral care/wellbeing programme?

Form tutors, heads of year, heads of section, school counsellors, a

nurse and a coaching team are among the adults to whom pupils can
turn for help and support.

What’s a typical school lunch menu?

A variety of meat, vegetarian and vegan options, such as sushi,

burritos, pasta bakes, curries, salads and soups. Dessert options
include coconut and raspberry sponge and kiwi and berry yoghurt
pots.

Do you offer any qualifications other than A-level, IB and GCSE?

The school is developing its Higher and Extended Project

Qualification (HPQ and EPQ) provision and has launched short
courses promoting independent research in maths and chemistry.

Do you offer any scholarships, bursaries or financial assistance?

Almost 100 pupils receive means-tested bursary support. There are

about 15 bursary places to allocate at 11-plus and up to three at 16-
plus. Scholarships may be awarded to pupils for outstanding merit
and promise in music, drama, art and sport.
