2022 Excellent

“The school seeks to instil in its pupils a strong sense of community

academic and other achievements is excellent ... They take the
initiative with their studies and are highly motivated and aspirational
in all areas ... They make very good use of the opportunities given to
them to reflect on their own learning, increasing in confidence as

What does the school say?

Achievements from the past school year

Initiatives such as In-house Internships help to develop the skills

students will need for success at university and beyond, for example
creative thinking, problem solving, leadership and collaboration.
Students considered a broad range of university courses in the UK
and overseas and 94 per cent of 2023 leavers went on to study at their
first-choice university. In September, five Year 7 pupils joined
through the Bridge programme, which helps to widen access to the
school and to create a diverse and inclusive community.

Extracurricular activities

There are sporting fixtures throughout the year for all abilities,
including rowing on the Thames. This year the first XI hockey team
finished third in the Tier 1 national league and were unbeaten
indoors. One pupil played for the England U18s at the European
championships, the U14 and U19 netballers reached the regional
round of the National Schools Competition and rowers won two
bronzes and silver at the National Schools’ Regatta. There is a similar
focus on music, with choral, instrumental and orchestral groups
performing in venues including Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s
Cathedral. There are more than 90 mainly student-run weekly clubs,
including the politics society, whose speakers this year included
Alastair Campbell and Guto Harri.

What is your pastoral care/wellbeing programme?

There is an overarching philosophy of building resilience to engender

self-respect and self-confidence. This is bolstered by the annual
Challenge Your Limits Week. Pupils are supported by the pastoral
deputy head, heads of section, heads of years and their form tutors,
two counsellors and two nurses. In addition there is a comprehensive
PSHE programme, including talks from expert speakers.
What’s a typical school lunch menu?

Beef and vegetable stir-fry; spring rolls; roast vegetable wraps with
hummus and feta; sauteed courgettes and peppers; steamed broccoli;
egg noodles; prawn crackers; banana and chocolate chip cake with
custard. There are also rolls and bagels, a salad bar, a cheese
selection, jacket potatoes with fillings, pizza (including gluten-free)
and fruit with natural yoghurt.

Do you offer any qualifications other than A-level, IB and GCSE?

No.

Do you offer any scholarships, bursaries or financial assistance?

There are music scholarships at 11+ and music and art scholarships at
16+ and they cover up to 30 per cent of school fees. Means-tested
