REFLECTION

MODULE: LANGUAGE OF OUR OWN

The national language of the Philippines is Filipino. It is a standardized variety of Tagalog, based on
the native dialect spoken in Metro Manila, the National Capital Region, and other urban centers in the
archipelago. Filipino serves as a lingua franca, allowing people from different language backgrounds to
communicate.

National language is a driving force behind unity of the nation's people, and makes them distinct
from other nations – provided you give your language respect. Giving respect to your national language
means that it should be one's primary language, as well as the preferred source of communication at every
level.

Our native language not only allows us to communicate and connect with one another, but it allows
us to understand and appreciate the history of our ancestors and our upbringing. It cultivates an
appreciation and understanding that is beyond beneficial for children, especially those from diverse familial
backgrounds.

So if there is no language there can be no thought. National development is idea or thought arising
from the brains of thinkers. The ideas for development, conceived in the brain, are captured by language,
spoken of written, for more interpretation in language and implementation via language.
